2025 Garage Sale Thread (14th Annual)

Just one sale for me today, no tools but got 1 cool item from the 'free' table. This location has a couple of sales a year at a rather unique 50's modern style house. Almost all the stuff is household, furniture, toys, etc. but is all vintage & MCM stuff in good condition, occasionally there is...

Chef Rex, Yours looks similar too, especially the outlined areas. Some vises probably just have a better casting.

Here's a picture of a Craftsman Reed from 1943. It looks similar to mine. I am thinking it is this way from the factory or the same guy repaired both.

REED R Series. Post your Reed date stamps.

Recent purchase, Reed 204R, good condition, date code (2-43). I have been looking for a Reed for awhile and finally found one locally for a good price. Posted up on the big vise thread too with a question about the jaws. Are they forge welded? Almost looks like a repair but given the good...

Reed 204R static jaw....is the area under the jaw normally like this? Forge welded? Repaired? This is my 1st Reed so I am not familiar with their specifics. Thanks

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Good morning all, I recently acquired this Reed 204R at an estate sale. It looks to be in good condition overall and I have just started to clean the years of grime off to give it a closer inspection. Found the date stamp on the 'non-lettered' side of the static body, (2-43). Wondering about...

Just 1 item today. Neighborhood yard sale, typical household stuff, not much for tools. I managed to find this empty Hinsdale G-20 box. I don't collect Hinsdale but do have a few items I have incidentally acquired over the years. I guess they will have a home now.

I couldn't find a qualified diener on such short notice, so I took a stab at the Stretch Armstrong autopsy myself. After carefully extricating the subject from his plastic bag tomb, it became apparent that Mr Armstrong had suffered a mortal wound to the neck, (a fate not uncommon to his kind)...

An autopsy is planned for later this week, weather permitting. Apparently he is filled with corn syrup. https://vintageactionfigures.com/original-stretch-armstrong/

2025 Garage Sale Thread (14th Annual)

I haven't posted much this year and admittedly I am about 30 pages behind in reading the thread. Sales have been a little slow this spring but I had a good weekend so here are pictures of Friday's purchases. A very local estate sale, just 5 minutes down the road, run by a professional company...

2025 Garage Sale Thread (14th Annual)

I feel your pain. Last fall I made arrangements, via FBM, to purchase a nice landscape trailer that was about 45 minutes away. We messaged back and forth and agreed to meet at 930am the following day. I messaged the seller when I was 15 minutes away only to have him say "hold off, someone else...

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

I picked up this Union Steel Chest Corp. box recently. It appears to be a #6316 and in nearly unused condition. Nice leather handle but no key for the lock. It has found a new owner already. I have too many carry boxes and this was too nice for me to actually use on a regular basis.
