What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I updated some fluorescent tubes to type B LEDs and was removing the ballasts on the weekend. This ballast was one of the ones I removed. If it's original to the garage, the building permit I have for it says '73 so I'd guess this is from the early 70s.

    Favorite Multimeter Leads?

Are probes relatively universal across different makes? I've read reviews of different (cheaper) alligator clips that don't stay on the probe tips. Would a more expensive example stay on the probe tip better? Should I stay within the brand of multimeter I'm using? Mostly I want an alligator...

Take the cars out on the interstate for 30 mins and get them good and hot and then park in the garage ;)

Insulating 1940s wood garage in Maryland - Rockwool and closed cell foam?

Part of my planning was figuring where to store the stuff that I was storing up there. My plan is to only provide access up there for investigating/repairs. No storage. Just makes it easier. However, I'm lucky in that I have 2 other garden sheds that I can store stuff in.

Insulating 1940s wood garage in Maryland - Rockwool and closed cell foam?

While planning my garage insulation project I looked into the spray foam on the underside of the roof decking. Someone on the forum pointed out that it's possible to get moisture build up between the roof deck and the insulation which will eventually cause the roof decking to rot. My plan is to...

Heat 24/7 or only when in the shop?

My detached garage (18ishx30ish) is a similar deal. Basically I bring anything inside my house during the months when temps get around freezing that shouldn't be stored below freezing. Until temps are starting to hover around freezing again in the spring. I've noticed aerosol cans don't really...

    Hammer storage

I've done the same with my hammers too, flat in the drawer. I've mounted a pair pliers, 1 of each most common sized screw driver, an exacto knife and a measuring tape hanging on the wall for ease quick access. Now I'm thinking a basic claw hammer might end up on there too...

Windshield and car window anti frost treatment ???

Once you got it a little soft, use some washer fluid. Used to do that in the morning after a night shift. The plant I work at is next to a huge lake with lots of moisture in the air and you'd get lots and lots of heavy frost on the glass. Let it warm up for 5 mins, give it washer fluid until...

Windshield and car window anti frost treatment ???

Start your car 5 mins before you have to leave and turn the defrost on. Works every time.

    Is this a stupid idea.

Does it have an info plate on it? I think most vessels like this should have some info you can look up. You might be able to find out exactly how much pressure you need to...change the shape, if you get my meaning.

    Is this a stupid idea.

Hmm...Could you fill it mostly with water and then add air. Would need much less volume?

    What to do with lasers?

This is has some mythbusters flavor to it... What do they do to other materials like wood or ceramic? Maybe it'll take paint of wood?

    Show us your welding projects

I've always wanted to, never got the opportunity. So now I do. Hoping this is a good distraction during the cold winter months in the great white north.

How to hide these wires on the wall?

You can get wire race ways that are paint able. That would help hide them. Did it for some speakers in my rec room because my wife hates when you can see wires.
