thanks guys for the input. i am glad i decided to take it to a shop. they called me just now and said the windings are touching and shorted out. it would have to be re-wound which is gonna cost about $400.
so now i am in the market for a decent quality motor. any suggestions? i dont mind...
thats a pretty good idea. i am typically too much of a DIY'er but that would help ensure it is done right. i actually live in Senoia, ga... not quite as far south as you. you wouldnt have any shops you trust would you?

so i was looking for replacements this morning and went to the above link, is it me or do they not have 233-280 rated MFD capacitors? i looked on a couple of other websites last night and did not see the 233-280 range caps in the 240v series, only in 120v.

the compressor's breaker tripped, the plasma is fine. i was cutting along fine, mid way through the cut the compressor kicked in to build pressure back. i finished cutting and the compressor was still going when all of a sudden it just quit. i went upstairs to investigate and thats when i saw...

i am a little shocked as much as abrasive blasters are discussed in here no one has any experience. I have been talking with Ian at Redline Engineering and feel pretty good about the product. i plan to order (well reserve, they seem to go faster than they can get them in which makes me feel...

i confirmed with my contractor this morning that it is to be used for grounding. it is 25' and extends down into the ground a couple of feet below the bottom of the footing.

it def goes into the footing. i dont have visual proof but i went home for lunch that day and they had at least 2' dug for the footing. that rebar goes to the bottom of the footing.

Re: Grounding at detached garage
i will have to measure and get exact measurements... i am just guessing it is 15'. it very well could be 20'
if that is the case, i am assuming it can be used as a ground rod?

i will preface this thread by saying sorry for beating a dead horse. i have searched this forum and spent seemingly hours reading and still cant draw a conclusion.
I just had a completely detached garage built. i have installed a 100A subpanel that will run off of my 200A main in the house. now...
