    Prefab vs Sitck Build Garage

Prefabs can be be good quality but the devil is in the details. Are studs on 16' centers? Length of stud? 8', 10', 7'? is the garage wired? Lights? 1/2" or 7/16 OSB on walls and roof? CDX Ply wood? Vinyl side quality/thickness? Cost include anchoring to your foundation? You need to make sure...

Chop saw tripping breaker, am I only one?

First as others ave pointed out, you need a dedicated 20 amp circuit to the saw. I ave a Dewalt 12" chop saw. When I ad a small vacuum dust collector on it, the breaker would trip. Light on the circuit would cause trips also. Depending on brand of circuit breakers you may need a HVAC breaker...

    Router recommendations

I haven't had any problems with Bosch tool. Mine are over 10 years old so I don't know how they are built today. Bosch is a German company so they may have a tighter control over Chine or Mexico manufactures. Don't know if PC is still made in the USA or not anymore.

    Router recommendations

I have several routers. PC, Bosch, Dewalt, Titon. Different routers for different jobs. As with any tool it depends on what you want to do. The Porter Cable (PC) and Bosch kit that has both fixed & plunge bases are good all around units. What are your plans for router bits? 1/2", 1/4", 8mm...

Busted off a very small bolt

My take on this is if the screw breaks off because it is rusted in place, eazy outs are the worse things to use. They will normally break off leaving you into a mess. If you drill a hole and can heat the part up red, then they may work, or it may expand the screw tighter in the hole. Best luck...

    The Best Light Fixture Ever!

I'm going through this now. I'm wiring lights over my work benches, about 40', in the barn. I want LED but I am leery about the reliability of the 4' fixtures. I have read to many bad reviews about failures soon after installation. At ~$40/fixture I can't afford having them fail when I'm buying...

PVC tiles vs RaceDeck tiles. Opinions?

Put some pvc in the freezer or outside if you have a winter. See if they break when you bend them. That will help you in determining the quality of the plastic used in the tiles.

    2017 NEC residential changes

I heard that Michigan removed the requirement for the afci ****. :rocker: As for manufacturers in bed with NEC it's happening with all code setting organizations. These organizations make money from membership due and participation. I was on a natural gas one and users (mostly utilities and...

Air Compressor - Horizontal vs Vertical

Air compressors are tough to pick. :dunno: Bigger is better but not always. The IR unit your looking at is small but for what you want it should work. Biggest advantage is it is portable so you can wheel it where you want. Being an IR the quality should last you a life time if taken care of. An...

Three phase panel used as single phase

First, it is perfectly legal to use a 3 phase panel on single phase. You will shoot yourself when you need to purchase new breakers for it though. I do see several violation though with your boxes. White/gray wire is for neutral only. Not hot Sub panels require a separate grounding buss bar...
