Morgan Chicago No. 5 swivel bench vise

Morgan wasn't bought out in the 40s. They moved from Chicago to Aurora after WWII. Milwaukee Tool & Equipment Co. bought Morgan in 1970, moved it to Milwaukee and changed the name to Morgan Milwaukee.

    Vintage Black and Decker grinder

That's an Edison-style swivel attachment plug. They were used in lieu of blade-type plugs and receptacles. Before the late-1920s, it was very common for homes to have very few, or even absolutely no wall outlets for blade-type plugs, especially in basements and garages. What most rooms had...

Looks like it's been opened at least once before, so yeah, go for it.

Craftsman 65262 6-drawer chest (1/73) and 65035 5-drawer roller cabinet (10/72). Original finish, one owner. Original paperwork in the rack on the lid: Craftsman 65039 roller cabinet from 1975. I took the wheels off to line it up as an extension for a workbench: Late 70s 65336 sitting...

    PLOMB Hacksaw?

1940 appears to be the first catalog they appeared in, but they're in all the rest of the 1940s catalogs too. The Plomb No. 352 heavy-duty hacksaw, which came out later in the 1940s, and continued as a Proto model into the 1980s, was one of the best hacksaw frames ever made by anybody anywhere.

Not a pipe tap. Not an Irontite tap either. It's an old blacksmith's taper tap.

    Prentiss #19 Vice color?

It may not have been "perfect" from the factory, but it would have been closer than 1/16". I'd suggest checking the swivel jaw pin first, to make sure it's straight and not the cause of the misalignment. Also that there are no deformities on the pin or in the bore. Also, check the jaw...

    Prentiss #19 Vice color?

That's the lettering style shown in a 1904 catalog listing of Prentiss vises. In that era, it would have been painted dull black.

    Prentiss #19 Vice color?

Not much later than that, but a lot earlier than that. Prentiss model no. 19 dates from 1900 (or perhaps even the 1890s) to the 1940s. The earliest Prentiss vises had relatively plain markings. Then around the late-tens or early-teens, the markings got more ornate (what Carla called the older...

About to buy this Prentiss Bull Dog 56, good deal?

It's missing the collar that fits on the screw, behind the front jaw. Fairly easy to make or buy a replacement collar with a set-screw.

    Thursday Morning Mystery Tool

It's a model 194 Universal Scraper. For wood. Mainly used for bench and table tops, cabinets and so on. On floors it would be used in corners near baseboards, not so much over whole floor surfaces. In use, the edges of the scraper blade are rolled over with a burnishing tool to form a sharp...

need jaws for Schick pipe wrench

Thanks for posting that. What search engine and search terms did you use? Google only gave me the mostly useless information I posted the links to. This is interesting: As I mentioned, I remember the wrenches around that time. I can't remember who was selling them, but they were very...

need jaws for Schick pipe wrench

I'm not sure I'd want to fly on a plane where a pipe wrench is used for adjustments. :lol_hitti
