It looks like this issue is solved. But I have the original of the operating instructions and parts list for the 103.23881 wood lathe and would be happy to send anyone a full copy if they want.

New member here: I have several Craftsman power tools all in good working order and which I use. One is a wood lathe mod. 103.23881 which I do not need, use, or want. On the negative side, I know this was and is not the best lathe ever made. On the positive side, it is in excellent condition...
