    Who's got lathes?

Bought my Logan from George at Orion Machine in Muskegon, Mi. last spring. Another great guy is Tom Lodari at Adrian Machine in Knoxville, Tom asked, "What do you know...

Two new ways (for me) to cut aluminum

Hats off, great innovation and writeup as usual, Jack. Congrats on the new baby. My grandson was born 9/29/11. Hey, I was looking at an old Harley homade primary chain cover in Cyclemo's shop, and noticed that it was imprinted "Wearever" , well I guess broiling WOULD be better for you, Huh?

    Kroil -vs- PB

How many creeps do you have to render for a can of creep oil? If you lived in Tennessee, you would know that Nashville is the best source. Great stuff, by the way.

What lost tool are you looking for?

Lost, not much, loaned/stolen a bunch. Don't you love it when they bring back the pieces? " Obviously something wrong with this, or it wouldn'ta broke, I'd take this back, Bro." Don't get me started on money and family!

Give me a primer on punches & chisels please

It seems that they got used to turn large nuts/fasteners in the past, especially Harley Davidson motorcycles, farm equipment, etc. (roadside repair, field fix?) Marked with a chisel, turned out with a duller chisel/drift,some of these guys hardly left a mark.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

My good buddy Tarbaby fished on of the FJT style vises out of the scrap yard a few days ago. Badly used/abused, the outer jaw was broken completely off the thing, cracked, the back collar loose, everything beat, sawed, rusty. I thought I could fix it, started yesterday morning. by far the...

Hight of a home made work bench

I'm 6'2" and nearsighted, so my benches are usually somewhat tall. I have been accused of building bars, not benches, though. Benches for work on harleys need to be anvil height, (wrist + hammer length).

Poor Man's Retro Retreat -- in 440 square feet

Great admiration on your garage space, best/most creative on here that I've seen. In one of your earlier posts, you mentioned what I call, " thinking with a pencil". I find this to be one of my most useful habits. I grew up in a country store in East Tennessee, and one of the things my...
