Didn't consider foam or any other insulation for that matter. I just never planned to heat the space.

Still trying to figure out the trim details. Ive never done this work before, so I'm still doing my research. The windows are unique. They tilt in to open along a hindge at the bottom, and the inside plane of the sash and the window jamb stick out proud of the wall surface. I'll likely have to...

Walls painted. Building storage shelves now. They are up 8' and 24" deep. Supports will be above so not to interfere with the wall space below. Still need to install trim and will probably epoxy the floor once it gets warm enough here. Still only in the 50s.

Got all the OSB up over the weekend. Took a little extra work since the structure isn't entirely square and studs are not perfectly 24" O.C., but I got it done. I didn't want to take down the overhead door track and springs, so it took some cutting to get those pieces to fit above the door...

No plans at this point. Im going to leave the roof/ceiling open at this point. I don't have a good heat source in the garage. I only have 20A to work with and don't have gas in the garage. I have to run either gas or new electric service to get heat. Would be nice, but at some point I want to...

    Epoxy Coat floor ????

To the OP, is does your floor have a concrete sealer on it? If not then what makes you think you need to grind first? Many threads here from people who had great success without grinding. I've got a new floor that I'm planning to epoxy soon. I purposely did not apply cure/sealer after...

Ha! It has certainly been a project I'm proud of. Here's a look at the new lighting. So much nicer than the old spot light. You can still the the old spot over the center of the door. I've got it disconnected and will take it down before I repaint the exterior. I used these...

I thought about insulation but thought it might be a bad idea. I don't know how well I trust all the old sidng and t&g sheathing to keep out water. There is no tar paper or wrap under there. I'm concerned any insulation could get damp.

Now that the weather is back above freezing I've been able to get back to working on the garage. This winter was just brutal; over 100 inches of snow and super cold all season. Feb '15 was the coldest month ever recorded here; average temp was 12. Yup, 12. So needless to say work in my...

+1 took me 3 trips to HF before I got a 26" cabinet that wasn't damaged. Definitely open and check them before you leave.

Sounds like you are worse off than I was. My soil is mostly sand and even though we get a long freeze here in western NY it behaves well. This meant my excavation was limited. Sounds like you might need to do a but more digging, maybe replace clay w crushed stone or even put in a deep footer...

Yup, the roof job was one day. 5 guys started at 8am, done by 4pm. Removing and cleaning up the cedar was most of the work. Upgrading from? A couple of plastic totes, some cardboard boxes, and a few 5gal buckets. For every job I have to dig for tools, fill a bucket with what I need, do...

    Rehab my 100yr old garage

Got the roof replaced yesterday. The original cedar shingles were still on the roof. It never had a plywood or OSB deck, just 1"x4" purlins with a 1" space between them. The roof on my house is the same way. All the houses in my neighborhood had cedar roofs when they were built in the 20s...
