What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I added a hardboard top to to the center of my OSB workbench, where I do most of my work. I noticed that the OSB was starting to show a bit of warpage there from working with solvents and other liquids - even had to add a few nails and hammer down the existing ones more to get it straight. I...

    Let's see your Pegboard

This is definitely a work in progress as I fix up this crowded old garage with limited wall space. I'm planning on expanding with more pegboard off to the sides for shorter tools. I need better plier holding solutions, and looking at pictures in this thread is helpful. Keeping wrenches and...

2026 Garage Sale Thread (15th Annual)

Random haul today from a very disorganized estate sale where all the people running it seemed openly hostile towards each other and inclined to complain to me about what a mess the sale was. Lots of good stuff there, but all the tools were buried under other junk. The 1/2" ratchet is a Snap-On...

2026 Garage Sale Thread (15th Annual)

I didn't chat with too many people there - it does seem, in retrospect, that others searching through stuff were definitely there on more of a mission than I was! There was still a ton of stuff, including a beautiful chisel set, and some heavy duty power tools, so I would say it wasn't a bad...

Thats' the one! I didn't realize these sales were such big business. I kind of prefer the barely advertised garage sale, but they seem to be few and far between nowadays.

I may try that next. I wetted it down to raise the grain last night and gave it a pass with 220 this morning, the stains are getting slightly lighter, but not gone. I might have to use a darker stain than I had planned (I remember it originally having a really light walnut finish, and was going...

2026 Garage Sale Thread (15th Annual)

Thanks for the link. It seems to have some pretty good pressure, but I do wonder what caused the first pellet to jam in there - not sure if that happens from lack of pressure or something else. I was hoping not to get too far into the gust of the thing, but it may be inevitable...

2026 Garage Sale Thread (15th Annual)

I think that's the sale I was at yesterday. So *you're* who they start these for on Fridays! I might go back again today.

That's actually my current bench project. It's a Hy-Score 806, which is a rebadged Diana made in Germany. My dad used to use it to scare off jay birds and other critters that preyed on his beehives, and also just for plinking. It was like new when he bought it at a garage sale in the '90s and he...

2026 Garage Sale Thread (15th Annual)

I keep getting to garage and estate sales just a bit too late to get the best DIYer stuff (what's up with everyone starting these things on Fridays? I have to work on Fridays!). Today's sale, once again, had some great specialized tools for things way beyond my skill level, but I still found a...

2026 Garage Sale Thread (15th Annual)

Picked these up at an estate sale. The garage was full of amazing professional machinist's tools of a variety of vintages, but they were all for things that are well beyond my skill level. I didn't get there until Sunday, and the sale started Friday, so probably all the best DIY stuff had...

2026 Garage Sale Thread (15th Annual)

An garage sale was going on a few blocks from me all weekend, but unfortunately I didn't make my way over there until late this afternoon. Apparently I missed out on a lot of good stuff, but I did snag this bench grinder (with stand) and old corded drill for $40 (one of the benefits of showing...

Alfa. I didn't need another car, but I did need a project :p

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Just a 24 hour bath - taking them out and scrubbing them down when I get home from work tonight. Most of the rust is pretty light, thankfully, except for one pair of large tin snips.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I organized... a lot. A few years ago, I inherited my dad's garage (along with the rest of the house, of course!) together with decades of equal parts junk and treasure. It's taken a couple of years to get rid of enough junk to make the garage usable - I couldn't even get to the workbench...
