Is this as dumb an idea as it sounds? (water and internet in same conduit)

I ran hot and cold water PEX as well as direct burial CAT-6 out to the shop in the same 3" conduit with long, sweeping 90s (2). Wasn't a far run, maybe 30'. Was no problem and works just fine. Not sure about the exact code, but neither the electrical inspector nor the mechanical (plumbing)...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Put the front of the engine back together on the new-to-me '87 after water pump and timing belt and other WYIT items. Finished the clear coat on the intake, so the top of the engine refresh can progress. Hopefully all back together by the weekend!

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Put a new water pump with composite impeller on the new to me 928 to replace the pump that was put on 2000 miles and 8 years ago...and rebuilt the timing belt tensioner for the same car.

Info on Radiant Tube Heater NG

My main shop area is roughly 30x50, very well insulated, and I heat it here in CT winters with a single overhead radiant tube with 45 degree angled reflector facing the doors on the opposite wall along the 50' side. I absolutely love the system, it's very economical to run even though I am...

    Attached garage ventilation

I have CO/Smoke combination units on the ceilings of every bay in the shop since it's just a hobby shop and attached to the house as well. They are Z-Wave networked and alarm through sound as well as text message. They don't go off from just bringing cars in and out of the shop. The only time...

What WiFi thermostat do you folks recommend?

I have 3 of the Honeywell T6 Pro Z-Wave thermostats around the property. They all have been great and offer extensive options. They do have a WiFi version of the same thermostat as well. They are usually around $100. --Zax

Installing a Mohawk A-7 in my shop garage

Might also not hurt to give Mohawk a call or send them an email - I got a whole set of OEM hydraulic lines for my "vintage" System I from them for a reasonable price! They didn't have them in stock, but made them for me from the drawings they still had. Perfectly done, definitely high quality...

When he gets a new box I get a new box.

THAT is what always happens! I knew there was a reason for it!!! Congrats on the new to you box - it's almost like moving into a new house. LOL.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Water pump for the 944 finally got here. Installed the pump, new idlers, tensioners, belts, etc. And was reminded once again what a luxury it is to have a warm shop, lifts, and everything else close by after working for decades in driveways, small one car garage and friend's...

    Decent keypad door knob

I used to have a mix of mostly Schlage, and a couple Kwikset. The Kwikset ones have been replaced by Schlage units since they were just a headache. In the Schlage, the batteries last forever, they work reliably and integrate nicely with my smart home system (Smartthings). --Zax

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I, as probably many others too, have a drawer/bin of "junk" in the shop. As in "junk" bolts, nuts, screws, etc. - basically used hardware too good to throw out. And I am using it frequently. And most of the time I find what I need in there, that I don't keep in stock in new. But it takes forever...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Brakes, rotors and hoses on the wife's 955. And a trip to TSC to stock up on 1/4" hardware. Sent from my Lenovo TB-X606F using The Garage Journal mobile app

    Fastener black book

I also have the MHB, but the Engineers one covers me about 99% of the time for everything I do. But note, I am a hobbyist. The waterproof pages that can easily be wiped off are great too, and the information is nicely presented. Also, here is my solution for the small-print-fatigue in the shop...

Finally happening: 44'x26' with a 14'x14' connection to the house in CT

Totally agree. I couldn't be happier with mine. Even the System II is a very solid and beefy lift with much of the same components and features and definitely enough for most of the cars I work on. Sent from my Lenovo TB-X606F using The Garage Journal mobile app

    Fastener black book

My "Engineer's Black Book" (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0958057141/?tag=atomicindus08-20) seems to come from the same place, and it's a fantastic resource that definitely covers a lot of fastener/thread details (plus obviously a ton of other machining related subjects). I use it all the...
