dust stopper vs dust deputy vs dust collector: I'm out of room and can only have one. Thoughts?

I have a 1200 CFM dust collector with one hose directly to the tablesaw and a second port available when using the jointer or the planer. When using either of those(planer/jointer) I have a separator that attaches to a 33 gallon steel trash can. It gets all the heavy stuff and less than 5% ends up in the DC bag. When using smaller equipment like routers or track saw I use a shop vac. I could see the efficiency increase a bit with a cyclone/dust deputy but I don't do enough to warrant that set up,at this time. I'm not helping your space situation but I am in the camp of two different set-ups based on usage. Unless you were to have an overhead pipe/hose drop at a dedicated spot for routing/track saw that could utilize the dust collector. I also have a very handy remote switch/keyfob to activate the DC,which saves steps.

Just measured my modded DC1100's new home - the base is 24"x42", and including casters it's 92" to the very top of the motor. The cyclone mod has been on there (sporadic use) for about 15 YEARS, and I've yet to empty the original catch bag. I'd guess that at least 99% of what I pick up goes in the 35 gallon barrel.

Also I'm REALLY happy I decided on overhead piping; my (built in place) trusses are at 10' and ALL my gates (9 or 10) along with power and air drops, are at 6'6" high, so when things are disconnected there's NOTHING I can hit my head on (I'm a fraction under 6'0" ) -

This also means there's pretty much NOTHING to trip on.

Dust deputy - compared to a stock Ridgid vac, you MAY notice a very slight reduction in suction - but here's the payback - as long as I don't try to pick up styrofoam "peanuts", I only check the filter maybe once a YEAR (and maybe empty the 30 gallon collector, maybe not) -
My friend stopped bitching about the slight suction loss when he still had suction WEEKS after he woulda had to clean/replace his vac filter.
In my mind, that's a no brainer (pun shamelessly intended  ) ... Steve

Thanks for the info! Sounds like this works really well for you. I think something like this might work for me.

Are you saying this setup keeps up with a table saw? If I got a vacuum with 2.5" diameter hose, I could use it with a DD on my TS?

Sounds like the only thing that will keep up with a 12" planer is my big DC. But, I've been fine with using the bigger shop vac I currently have with 1-7/8" hose. The tank fills up quick, but I'm not planing that many boards; a bigger vac (my big one is 6 ga) might work just fine for my needs.

Absolutely it keeps up with my table saw.

And yes, the 2-1/2" hose from my vac fits the top port of the dust deputy

The 1-7/8" hose is a weird size, as most seem to be 2-1/2" or 1-1/4", but I find the nozzle fits just about everything I encounter as male or female.
My opinion on vacuums heavily favors the Ridgid variety. They have great power and they run and run (in my experience). As long as your filter is clean, it will keep up with your table saw.

Maybe the vac would even keep up with a planer, but the 1-7/8" hose definitely gets clogged almost immediately with the stringy chips.

It bears repeating, the Dust Deputy does an AWESOME job with chips, but with very fine dust (MDF or extensive fine sanding), you're going to want to blow out the vac filter.

I finally got around to getting a vacuum and Dust Stopper. It fits really nice under the table saw outfeed:

The next project is to make a wheeled tray for these. I could get some sort of wheeled base for the bucket, too, but I have some scrap wood I can use to make what I need.

I got a 12 Gallon 5.0 Peak HP NXT Wet/Dry Shop Vacuum with Filter, Locking Hose and Accessories on sale for $80.

That Dust Stopper works really well; it picked up all the dust and there was little or none in the vacuum barrel.

Thanks to all for your comments and help, I really appreciate it.
