Hey guys, I’ve been researching floors for about the past month on what to do. I almost pulled the trigger on Walt tools epoxy fooor system because they had excellent prices and they were very helpfu. The day I was going to buy it I seen originalcolorchips.com was located not too far from me in Warren, Michigan. I stopped in assuming I was going to be looking at the lower solids coating they have. Instead right off the bat they suggested 100% solids with a polyaspartic topcoat. The brand was labfast. They had all the tools etc. also. Garage is 360sq ft and the materials were just under $800 not including the tools. That was for 2 gal of wb epoxy, 3 gal of 100% solids epoxy, 10lb of flake, 2lb of antiskid, and (2) 2 gal kits of poly (for two coats). I was originally going to go with one coat but I mistakenly didn’t backroll the antiskid resulting in a pretty rough surface. Time will tell on how this product holds up but so far so good on the application and cure. I just thought I would throw in this review for anyone wandering down the rabbit hole. FYI if I went with only the one poly topcoat it would have been $200 cheaper. The price was very similar to Walt tools but with them being local I went with them.
For reference I have never done this before and was very intimidated learning how to… mainly for the poly which had a 15 min working time. Thinned with 3oz per gallon of xylene it gave me right around 17-18 minutes of working time before I could feel the roller starting to grab a bit more. I did one side then mixed the other batch and didn’t other side with no problem and time to spare. Make sure to use a mini roller vs a chip brush on the cutting in to save time.
