I've been doing a lot of catch-up maintenance lately on a 20 year-old pickup, and I've run into messed up threads a few times. So I picked up this Lang kit, which Bowers Tool has for a pretty good price. Used it this afternoon to clean up the threaded holes for the skidplate on the truck - the skidplate comes off for every oil change so it's probably been removed and reinstalled 30 times.

As a bonus, the case even has a spot for my old MAC thread file. Made me smile. :)

One of the best tools on the market, use mine all the time.

^ no way to get spark plug boot pliers onto that plug on that Husqvarna mower. I have a pair of those pliers here somewhere - no idea where they might be.
Mine are in the spark plug drawer... YES... I have a labelled spark plug drawer. Old style Craftsman Tool Box with a million little drawers. It's perfect for the 5 or 6 sockets, Two pliers, spark tester, thread chaser, Gap thing-a-majigs.

Is that Autel USB-C charging? I have a MK808 and it is micro USB or some dumb garbage like that. Literally the only thing I dislike about it. I don't think I would upgrade just because of that but I would consider it lol
Yes it is, but I have many USB-C charged devices from my NEBO lights to phones ETC so no issue for me.

Could use a replacement side cutter and needlenose, so I'm dipping my toe (or tool box) into the Knipex pool, pretty much based on the advice and enthusiasm of those on this forum. First impressions are good. The only thing that caught my eye is the slight asymmetrical grind on the needle nose pliers but that's cosmetic, not functional.

Yeah, I've spotted a few things lately that make me suspect they have 1,000+ people working there in that village because not everything's automated/CNC'd.

That's a good start, there. 10" Cobras are the gateway drug.

Well, you nailed that analysis!

I started looking at Knipex because of the 10" Cobra. At first I was going to get the Cobra set of three, but that would have been three "want" tools with a lot of functional overlap. This set of three fills the 2/3rds "need" with the needlenose and sidecutters replacing damaged tools in my kit, and the 1/3 "want" with the 10" Cobra.

Down the slippery Knipex slope goes me? Probably "yes", as I do need to replace a few more tools.

Their pliers wrench seems to have mostly replaced my need/use for lineman, slip joint, and adjustable wrenches.

They are amazing.

The plier wrench is definitely the Knipex tool to get hooked on due to its versatility and uniqueness. Other brands have tried to replicate the plier wrench and while they are good, they just aren’t there yet.

Following from my recent purchase of some Eklind hex keys (see here), I thought I'd try Bondhus as well. These are much harder to get in the UK, so I went for a plated metric set available on Amazon at a good price. If people would like me to do a new thread with a comparison of the two makes, just ask.

It says they have chamfered tips but this actually only applies to the 3 largest sizes (6 / 8 / 10mm). The ends of the 5mm were ground flat but not chamfered, and all the smaller sizes just had sheared ends. I don't like it when manufacturer's descriptions are slightly incorrect like this.

Like Eklind, no maker's mark. Wonder who Bondhus also supply.

Finally, here are some pictures of the packaging insert:

The straps on my 3M respirator were dead. Elastic worn out from my hanging it on a nail, but then plastic part of headband broke, too. Went shopping for replacement headband/straps and found out they were quite available, for about half the price of a new respirator. A few days later, I thought, say, what is the lifespan of the cartridges? And that's when I ordered a new one, as I bought this 10 or so years ago.

Also, some Milwaukee markers, thanks to you guys.

The nice people at Jersey Discount Tools emailed me this today:

I can resist, but some of you might want to put it on your list.
Nice to see that Lisle added a spring to those pliers. Honestly, I'm disappointed the straight pair offered by Lisle. They are crudely finished and not typical of Lisle's usual quality even if PRC made. I got the same email. I guess if you buy something from Jersey Discount tools, welcome to their mailing list. My wallet hates email notifications.

In the U.K. you can obtain Bondhus from MSC, Zoro, Cromwell Tools, and pretty much most of the engineering suppliers!

I saw them in the window of a hardware store in London a year (maybe two) ago. It was closed, so I couldn't go in, but I was surprised. (it was in SoHo or Mayfair.)

2 of my Gedore " Pliers " arrived today from Amazon.
COO Austria
Replacement for the incorrect item , expected August 27th
The 1/4 screw driver hasn't shipped yet despite being ordered before the "pliers " that arrived today, the Multi Pliers were shipped via USPS so they'll arrive next week.
Not so sure that Amazon is the best place to buy Gedore tools as delivery times , product shipping etc ,seems to be all over the place. It's a pity.
It always seeks to he certain things that zcasue Amazon to Blue screen. Besides the multi Pliers that are arriving next week , all tge other Gedore items are fulfilled by Amazon so it's not like it's a 3rd party vender issue.

Latest tool haul

Snap-on trim pad tool set, Long mini hooks set, metric ball hex set

IMG_4878.jpg

Unused CT9015 for 125 euros + 30 for the charger. Needs a battery. If it gets lug nuts I will be happy. Otherwise I will sell it.

IMG_4879.jpg

Pin punch set. Old but barely used.

IMG_4880.jpg

Some spark plug sockets. Long one is magnetic, the other two have rubber inserts. But they were cheap.
IMG_4882.jpg

Unused 27mm and 30mm Flank drive wrenches. And 15mm/16mm and 22mm/24mm used long double box end wrenches. In the pictures they looked to be in better shape. Usable, but used. The 22/24 has seem some cheat pipe or hammer action.

Edit: That 15/16 was just dirty. Cleaned up really good.

You folks may not consider yourselves to be "influencers", but you are causing me to suffer (or benefit from?) tool influenza, where I continue to pick up odds and ends at somewhat of a fevered pitch.

I've officially caught the Inkzall Flu. I got a 6-pack and already passed two along to my wife:

And I thank you for all that you do!

I bought a cheap boroscope camera from ebay for about $35 shipped:

I have a mystery pipe in my basement that I believe might lead to an old storage tank. I want to stick a camera down there and see.

Plus, when we demolished the ceiling in the living room, I can see an old, flat box (like maybe a board game box) sandwiched between the old plaster/lath boards that I am dying to know what's inside of it. It's sandwiched in such a way that I can't get it down without cutting boards and/or dropping a ****-ton of blown in insulation all over the place. I figure I'll just cut a hole in the side of the box and stick this camera in there too, lol.

I guess I am going to have to give these a try. I've always used Sharpies, no real complaints other than I wish the tips stayed sharper for longer, but with all the hype about these I'm sure I won't be let down.

A little bit more of my Gedore order arrived, these Pliers were also on Amazon through a 3rd party , KC Tool and they included a complimentory German Philips2 bit.

That's really strange. I own five... or six...? sets of Bondhus keys and even the smallest key has finished ends. I don't own that set, though, only the sets with ball ends.
