I'll never buy a tool box with a credit card ever again.

Something always happens to the tool box when it's purchased with a credit card. My next box will be purchased in full with cash. The credit card jinxes the box permanently. I've bought three tool boxes on credit and every one of them eventually got damaged in some way. I first bought a Kennedy 3407X, and then after that a MAC MB1500A, and then after that my current box which is a KRL1056A. The MAC box rolled across the inside of a moving truck and hit the wall hard with the side handle. The side handle smashed the outer wall of the box in. The KRL1056A box got damaged while replacing some drawer slides. If that wasn't enough, a cat sprayed it with pee and caused the paint to peel off. No sir, my next box will be bought with hard earned money; no bank money. Learned my lesson.

Yeah, it's the credit card's fault... 🙄
Karma says if you buy a tool box on credit because you don't have the money, that's not fair to the people who worked hard to buy their tool box with cash. I'm always getting on the wrong side of Karma. Eventually I will learn my lesson and I think I have.

I think you're right that it's Karma but, I think it has more to do with your tool polishing than paying with a credit card. :bounce: :dunno:

Besides, peeps that pay cash for a box are usually buying used and using cash to get a better price. You just can't win.

I'm having a hard time believing that I'm less than 30 days, the paint peeled because a cat peed on it.
The cat was no regular cat it was a cursed cat that had acid pee from a UTI sent by the credit card witch who cursed the box purchase. Cash only!!! 💵💵💵

but also one box was damaged inside a moving truck did you buy a box within 30 days of a planned move?

The option to finance the toolbox is open to (essentially) all, no? You just pay extra in the way of interest/fees. I think that’s fair enough.

It’s all relative but careful use of credit for work-related expenses is fine. It’s real easy to get carried away, though. That line between “want” and “need” gets really blurry sometimes …..

I have 10 tool boxes right now, not including portable ones. I've sold at least 6 previously. All but one were purchased second hand with cash.

The one that I bought new got a scratch from someone moving something past it, not sure what.

All the rest are in like new condition. I think this proves the OP point....

Check your credit card company.... "Visa, Mastercard, and American Express often provide purchase protection as a standard perk on many of their cards, especially premium ones. This can reimburse you for repair or replacement costs if an item is damaged or stolen within the coverage window."

These toolboxes needed replaced for that amount of damage? Some cat piss and some dents? I've bought boxes already in worse condition that that, lol.

The last one I bought was pretty rough. I got it for $25. Spent about 25 minutes on it with sandpaper and a couple rattle-cans I already had on the shelf, and it was ready to roll:

I once purchased an open top tool cart with 1 drawer and was damaged in transit, put a claim in and they shipped another one same carrier.
That 2nd one also was damaged, claimed sent in. 3rd one sent different carrier also was damaged.
Was able to piece together a good one with parts from all 3.
It took them about 2 months to send me shipping labels for the 2 damaged ones.

That doesn't seem quite correct to me.

If you buy with a card and make monthly payments, you're paying interest on that card. In the long run, you pay more than a cash buyer. Technically, you have to work more to to pay for that box.

Either way, both buyer's are working to pay for that box.

Why not buy the toolbox with a credit card, pay off the credit card immediately, and bank the credit card points/air miles/cash back? Blaming a credit card for someone else's mistakes seems strange. The cat one is likely on you (if it is your cat or allowed into the garage).

I buy almost everything with a credit card.
Credit Cards are just a form of payment that provides me with a monthly cash bonus and adds nothing to my costs.
Credit Cards are a tool, just like a hammer, used intelligently they can be beneficial, but when they are used carelessly theycan add to your troubles.

The credit card allows you to get the box right now even though you can't afford it. Karma says that's not fair to the guy who who's still saving up his pennies to buy the box in full. Karma says I'll pay the price by having something happen to the box. I'm sure if I bought a car on time payments, something would definitely happen to the car too.
