I like the lid too but I use it as a shelf when I making stuff and it's kind of annoying that it will then lock the drawers. I might need to remove the lock bar. I've also moved the storage tray down and added another one to the other side.I like that you left the lid on yours.
I am probably going to tear out the lock bar because I will never actually lock mine and it keeps annoying me when I just want to open a drawer.I like the lid too but I use it as a shelf when I making stuff and it's kind of annoying that it will then lock the drawers. A hack for this is.I am probably going to tear out the lock bar because I will never actually lock mine and it keeps annoying me when I just want to open a drawer.
I now have another task today!A hack for this is.
Pull the plastic cap off the lock bar, cut the lock bar off flush with the housing.
then take the piece you cut off and insert it into the plastic cap and save it.
now when you close the lid it won’t lock the drawers, but if you want to latch the drawers just push the plastic cap with the metal piece in it back on the lock bar and closing the lid will lock the drawers.
you can have the best of both worlds.
My apologies for the delayed response!Hey @Hakeem - I really like that look. Any info on where you picked up the diamond plate rubber mat?

Thank you sir!My apologies for the delayed response!

There’s a thread here for those mini toolboxes. Post your pics there too. It may give someone an idea for their roller seat and box.
Show your "Mini" Tool Box.
I know we have a tool box thread but more members have picked up mini tool boxes and using them for various duties. So why not start a thread and show what everyone is using their mini boxes for. Doesn't matter brand or color, let's see them. My black Kobalt box that I use for office type...www.garagejournal.com
There is a Husky HD full size box with a top that lifts a foot or more if you crank it up. Probably not great without a motor. I like the idea for working height. Will see if I can find the model no.I want to put lift top hinges like the picture below. They go up and back to access the top section.
One of the newer kids where I work has that box, he runs the top up with an impact driver. There is a Husky HD full size box with a top that lifts a foot or more if you crank it up. Probably not great without a motor. I like the idea for working height. Will see if I can find the model no.

That's the general look. It's not a triple bay that I saw in person. The soft close drawers work well.Is it

Agreed. I did buy a 3-drawer Craftsman mid box for that, but haven't had a chance to put it in since that involves partial disassembly of the lower tray, and either cutting clearance into the lower lip or building a riser to get the bottom drawer above the lip.HF is really missing a trick not making an add on 2 or 3 drawer box that fits in the lower opening.
I needed to color match some Durham and Huot cabinets, just took a shelf into my local True Value and they mixed up a quart of XO Rust Oil based Enamel that matched perfectly.Agreed. Related: does anybody have a good paint match for the gray color boxes?

Check his project thread, first mention of that cabinet I found is in post #363. There may have been earlier posts. Is there a thread on these? This is awesome!

I'd already bought the 5-drawer, and the full bank is still a bit outside my budget.Did you see this one? Sounds just like what you're looking for. https://www.harborfreight.com/tool-...-full-bank-service-cart-slate-gray-59854.html
Harbor Freight also sells replacement parts for their tool carts, they may have something?Does anyone have a current part number for the Snap-On locking hinges? The cart I have is missing the struts. I can't find the number on the SO website. Or is there another alternative??
Thank you! The Snap On part number doesn't come up. I will check with our local rep and see if they are still available.Harbor Freight also sells replacement parts for their tool carts, they may have something?
My notes say Snap-On KRBC8T9 hinges should do ya.
I also have this Amazon strut as a possible replacement in my notes.
Look at some of the photos. Some carts have a couple hundred pounds of tools attached.I'm always curious as to why so many people are having to replace their struts with these locking hinges? My struts are like 10 years old and work just fine. If they quit working, I'd just buy another pair. They are easy to find as these type struts are used on lots of other products.
Got tired of how messy my toolbox was so I'm starting to organize it. Figured I'd start with the plier drawer since it was the most chaotic.
I made some racks for the pliers and a sliding tray on top to squeeze out a bit more storage. My printer is too small to make the tray in one piece so it's two halves bolted together.
The tray has a magnet on the back so it won't slide forward every time you open the drawer. You gotta give it a little tug to move it forward.
For ref all the pliers under the tray. There's two different widths of the racks to account for the wider pliers vs the thinner ones. In total it can hold ~23 pliers (not counting the tray)

When the struts on my 5-Drawer go bad, I will replace them with chain. Have seen a few carts with this mod.Does anyone think it wise to get a set of these before we actually need them? Will they ever be out of stock and impossible to get? Sounds like eventually the shocks go bad on these rollers.
Jay-Cee Rivets has a good selection. Can anyone tell me where to find some black pop rivets that will fit the 5 drawer cart? I don't know if theres different sizes on the cart, but the ones I need are on the hinge of the lid.
Garage projects have been on hold for a few weeks minus some low level boat maintenance , work schedule during the week and fishing the weekends.
Replaced the stand I had a smaller belt/ disc sander on. It was made out of scrap a while back, served the purpose fine but the storage of extra abrasives was an ongoing exercise of organization. Replaced it with a 30" General cart. I like the organization much better. Removed the locking mechanism so the drawers would open with the lid down, 4 holes in the top and some aluminum angle on the inside to increase the rigidity. Before and after..
