I get not dock **** or **** dock, going to reschedule for Tuesday, the day that is supposed to be close to 100.

I just put the yard donkey back together with the other style air valve, the trailer brakes work now, so that is a plus, still don't understand why the other one doesn't work, but whatever. I moved Perk and the Muv-All out of the way, picked up a bundle of I-Beams and loaded them onto the extendable trailer for temporary storage. My plan is to setup the saw horses and clean each I-Beam up, all the extra welded parts and the extra brackets or hangers will be removed, then they will all get stacked in a nice couple piles underneath the bridge, should make everything fit into a 10' by 30' area, yet they will be easy to move if I need to in the future.

I am going to take a load of scrap steel to the yard today, be curious to see how bad the prices are, but I need the trailer and this stuff is really just in my way.

Well, I did get a few things done. Yard donkey is functional, need to get two new belts for the engine, one fell off the other week and the other one is almost gone, luckily they are both the same belt.

I also got the scrap steel taken to the yard, 880 pounds of #2 for $50.01 :(

Oh well, the trailer is empty and ready to go. Have to go to the bank, then NAPA for the belts. Still haven't had lunch, so I will probably do that too.

I haven't thought of it that way for years, regardless, it is better than paying to dispose of it or tripping over it. It almost paid for the NAPA trip, almost...

I am about to head out to the moving sale I think I am actually going to be the only one there, it was a special invite.

One case is cracked, I didn’t see it until I unloaded it, but it is still mouse proof and that was more what I was looking for. Probably could glue and patch it if I really wanted to make it water tight. That is the one with wheels, the other one is just huge, I didn’t flip it over, but I suspect it may have damage as well. I paid $60 for the pair and they will work for my purposes.

The drill bits that I looked at were all USA made and most were new. This was the rest of the stuff I got.

I got the outage text, so it isn’t a billing issue. They are aiming for restoration by 2 pm, so a couple of hours. I am torn, didn’t expect to be working in the blazing sun, could go to the Hill and do some repairs to the maroon 3500. I am currently trying to put the belts on the yard donkey, unfortunately I have found what looks like a broken off bolt that holds the alternator bracket. On top of that the broken belt I used to measure must have been missing some of the belt as the new one is a lot shorter. I think I can make it work for now, but not sure how long it will last the bracket was a little wobbly before, but when I moved the alternator to fit the shorter belt it seems much less stable. I really just want to move on to something else, but I know I will need the yard donkey while Perk is getting the trans swapped. I guess it might just be the next project on the list. It needs a new throttle pedal/linkage and the mirrors need to be reworked, also would be nice to get some lights so it can be used after dark. Seems like everything I touch just falls apart lately. :(

Power is back on, but now I have a full fledged project that wasn’t a project at all an hour ago. Alternator bracket was modified, has one bolt in the sheet metal add on piece, the others are broken off and partially drilled, but no good threads. They were 3/8 - 16, but I am going to have to oversized to probably 7/16 - 14 or something a bit larger. I may try and drill out what is there a bit more, but I don’t know how deep the casting is so it is a delicate situation. I will be making a new bracket (using the CNC plasma table!) as the one they used doesn’t really line up with anything, my guess is they changed to a regular style alternator from something that was oddball.

The guy with the Tiny Tokyo Shop thread, @Bakafish , will be able to comment on your autocollimator stands. Don't know if he would need one, and shipping to Tokyo would probably make it un-economical for him. But he would know all about them and maybe have an idea about what you could do with them. He‘s got an autocollimator or two and is very knowledgeable about high end measuring equipment.

I will have to check it out, I just thought they were cool and could be used for other things, but honestly if they are worth a couple grand each, I would much rather have the money, more forklifts!

I don't know your potential use for the vac pump(s), but if you use one plumb the exhaust outside as those regenerative blower style produce a lot of heat. I'd also use metal pipe to extend the exhaust as the big one we have will melt pvc. They are also pretty loud.

I wasn't sure what I was going to use it for either, just part of the package deal. I have a few larger ones, this one looked like it had never even been wired up at all, says it is a blower on the tag, was thinking fume extraction if anything.

It is hot outside, warmer than I like it, going to temporarily load all the I-Beams onto the Muv-All so I can figure out my next steps. I suspect I am going to have to do a lot of shuffling and I can tell you right now, I want the yard donkey functional for that. Also leaning towards keeping the H-130 hyster over at the Salvage Garage and moving the smaller Hyster up to the Hill, it leaks oil and has no coolant, so this time of year it is only good for a couple minutes at a time and I rarely need a forklift at the Hill compare to the Salvage Garage. Major issue is that the leaker has five foot long forks and the bigger one has four foot ones, I do have the heavy extensions, but as the name states, they are heavy. Major drawback is that I can't bring the H-130 into the SG, door is too short. I think that I am going to have to fix the BFF and that leaking main ram, at that point I can just about move anything I need to.

I am being totally serious when I say this, but right now all my plans are revolving around prepping both the SG and the Hill for winter, I can't go through another year like the last few. I have to have equipment ready and places to put snow that don't bury the things I need to work on. I suspect I will keep running into repair issues, but if I keep after them, I should be able to get everything done.

Equipment that will be needed:

Yard donkey

BFF

Dresser 510 Loader

Mitsu

Clark

In the mix will be plenty of other stuff, but those are the main things, I put Clark last, because if the 510 Loader is functional it has forks and that means I won't need Clark as much.

So cleaning up for winter is the summer project...
