I bought this Craftsman box full of tools off of Marketplace this morning. The listing was just a grainy photo but I could see a Snap On socket and an angled head wrench so I knew it had to be worth at least the asking price of $40 (actually marked down from the initial price of $50) and didn't even need to look at the contents. I still need to go through it fully when I get home but so far is the Martin angle wrench set is the main standout.

You ****!

I never run across Martin tools in the wild and my favorite adjustable is a 6" Martin.

I think I got it as a freebie with a large order from Motion Industries.

@oak_park : I have no idea what you paid for the Felco loppers and parts, but I have a gut feeling that YOU ****.

Put the spare parts in you safe deposit box so you can find them in a few decades when you need them--Felco tools are hard to wear out or break.

What's the oblong deallie lower-right?

Estate sale ($132): Le Creuset 5 tier cast iron stand; Steiff 1831/38 Lorli Fawn; Billie Holiday - Golden Years (six eye); 1000' x 18" butcher paper (nib); NSK AFC-40 Foot switch; Keuffel Esser 93217 Drafting arm; 27" x 24" MDF; 5 - Facom screwdrivers (France); Boker slip-jaw pliers (5507); Can of air; K&E Paragon 1399P ruler.

Le Creuset set me back $90, which was the bulk of the cost. Going to use the MDF for block printing. Glad to get the butcher paper for shipping and packing meat. I really like the scale on the K&E ruler. Seems like it will be handy.

On Saturday, I went on my usual tool hunting rounds, knowing that I wasn't getting any of the sales on the first day. Which is fine, as I really don't need anything, and probably have too much as it is. Or so my wife says...

The first stop had nothing of interest, but the second one was great, and I wish I had hit it on Friday before it had been picked over! (So much for not needing anything...)

Blackhawk brace, Spofford brace, PowrKraft (Wright) ratchet, unmarked but black finished pliers, and an odd carb adjustment tool, with 1/4" ratchet tips at both ends that move together.

Third stop makes me sigh. When you are running an estate sale, if there are tools, put that in the ad. For heavens sake, please do this! I search by that key word when there are a lot of posting to go through, as it keeps me from chasing my tail, so to speak. But this sale had a giant workshop, that had been, apparently, full of tools on the first day, and still had a few left on the third! And I would have changed my Friday plans and made it to this sale, and the one I hit before this. But, I digress.

I didn't end up buying any of the tools that were left, but, instead, I bought this old Raleigh bicycle. Not for me, mind you, I am only 5"7", and this thing is for someone well over six foot. And it isn't in good condition in any case. But, it has a Brooks saddle, Mavic 700c wheels, and who knows what else has been upgraded on it. So, for $10 if followed me home. And after that I went and got some breakfast.

And kept thinking about the second sale. See, there was a barrel of barreled rifle actions there, and a couple looked pretty good. So, I went and picked up some more money, and headed back over there.

Two antiques. A Winchester 1886, and a U.S, Krag with stock. Altogether at that stop I spent around $70, and it was worth every penny.

One purchase this week. Timing was great as I was scheduled to work in that area and the seller held it overnight so I didn't make two trips. 1998/99 Craftsman Full Polish SAE Long pattern wrench set made by SK

I kicked my boots of Friday after work and hit my chair. Saw this immediately as it was only listed for about 40 min on FBM. The seller said they were in “talks” with another buyer. I was second.. :( I followed up around noon today and buyer number one was not interested. :O Five min drive down the rode and it was mine. I’ve been looking since Friday to find out what the hell this is. It’s legit Matco, very heavy and well made. It may be an off shore built box for them, has no markings anywhere. The print on the box is painted on, not a decal. Looks like it was never used.

Edit: Called Matco this am for some research. It’s a PMB3DA Discontinued in 2022, List price was $227.60. Not USA built, Taiwan….. not shocked, but still really well built. 👍👍

After finding some decent sales on Friday and Saturday we checked out some local sales and were almost totally shut out. At the last sale of the day we found a hacksaw, a Xcelite screwdriver and a plastic spring clamp. IMG_4782.jpeg
The hacksaw is a Disston, my second one purchased just because of the thick plastic unattractive handle. I cleaned it up a little and installed a vintage brand matching blade. IMG_4783.jpegIMG_4784.jpegIMG_4786.jpegIMG_4787.jpeg
The Xcelite reversing screwdriver had been abused but I did what I could with it. IMG_4788.jpegIMG_4789.jpeg
The Disston hacksaws together. IMG_4794.jpeg
Different branding. IMG_4795.jpegIMG_4796.jpeg

I saw a sale on estatesales.net that was still open today. I saw pictures of MAC collectibles in the pictures. The collectibles were still there, but I didn’t find any MAC tools. There was a huge Superwrench… but VERN was scratched into it…

I found this drill stand and a Phillips pocket screwdriver $1.

I looked through my unused drill bit sets for a set to display in it. On of the drill bits was wrong, so I emptied it back out.IMG_5387.jpegIMG_5388.jpeg

This was a cool find from over the weekend. Seller was 79 and it was his father’s originally, I believe the date code is somewhere in the 60s. I have never found anything like a near complete Snap-On set in the wild affordable for me, so this was a pretty huge score as someone that works on old domestic cars and trucks. I’ll try to source the missing sockets used on ePay as I can afford them and repaint the box, bringing it back to its original glory. The pair of Williams Superratchets tossed in was a cool bonus.

I picked up this Gerstner chest last week at an estate sale. Not really a "you ****" price, but considering it's over 100 years old, more than fair I think. It's a model 41, made between 1919 and 1921. The key is still present and it works. I have a few Gerstners, but this is the oldest by far.

I had Veteran's Day off and went scavenging for tools. Aside from the "price too good to leave it behind" super clean Craftsman carry box, it was a very Channellock centric haul - 430 , a pair of linemans, bitty side cutter and needle nose, bog standard 8" slip joint pliers, two vintage needle nose (with the pretty handles) , a couple of Krauter pliers, Diamond Calk 12" adjustable, MiUSA utility knife, nice Williams DOE, Dowidat DOE and a Dowidat don't-know-what-it-is-yet type of pry bar? (with 38-8" being the only marking other than the branding and COO), Plomb WF-102 there in the middle, and a Craftsman corner clamp that I need for a project.
