Weize/Bilt Hard Lifts are a NO-GO!!

A couple of years ago I built myself a pole barn. A lift was always in the plans, but just not yet. I saw an add on Facebook for Weize lifts which are also the same as Bilt Hard. It was a 10K overhead lift that seemed to have heavier carriages and arms than the usual 9K lifts for an introductory proce of just over $2000. The only pitfall for me was that it was just over 12' high instead of just under. I had a work around for that though with my yet unfinished ceiling. To my surprise they also offered residential delivery AND lift gate service which I didn't think was possible. I should have known better....
So I pulled the trigger. $2150ish for a 10K lift delivered to my house with a liftgate to unload it.
I'll give you the quick version of the 20 or so phone calls and emails that followed. BTW...the company was listed as being in California which turned out to be BS since all emails I got came to me at about 2AM and all phone calls were with someone with a thick Asian (Phillipino?) accent that I could barely understand.
- First call was to let me know that lift gate service was unavailable for auto lifts(because they are too heavy) and I needed to borrow or rent a forklift to unload. I refused and told them I paid extra for lift gate service and they needed to find a delivery service that could get it off the truck for me.
- Next was to inform me that it was impossible to deliver to a residential address and it would need to go to a freight receiver to pick it up but they would discount the order since I had to rent a trailer and pick it up myself instead of having it delivered to me locally.
- Then they identified a receiver 1.5 hours from my house in a crappy area. I again refused.
- They were able to locate a receiver within 30 minutes of me but because it was costing them so much in shipping they couldn't offer any discount for me to now have to rent a big enough trailer and drive to pick it up. I sucked it up figuring I could live with that since they were still refunding me the residential delivery fee and lift gate fee.
- Then it was they just needed to make sure the receiver had a forklift so they could lift it off the delivery truck and drop it onto my trailer.
- Then it was they couldn't refund the extra fees because the freight was costing them too much.
- Then they cancelled my order because they realized the freight was too expensive.
All in all...2 weeks of phone calls and emails, at 2AM, with someone who didn't speak reasonable english, from a company that was supposed to be based in CA, and I am hoping to get a full refund before I have to submit a dispute with my credit card company.
Look...I know you get what you pay for when buying a Chinese lift, and I wish that I could afford an American made lift, but my advice here is that if you are going to buy a lift made in China at least stick to one of the manufacturers and/or distributors that have a reputation and a person stateside that you can speak to.
BTW...the phone number for Weize is (562) 456-0507. The number for Bilt hard is (562)-456-0517. It is too much of a coincidence that the numbers are one digit off. I assume they are the same company and I wouldn't be surprised if many of the lifts sold on eBay, Amazon, etc are the same company.
Buyer beware...

I think a little due diligence would have made me click web browsers and found another lift.

When purchasing a car lift make sure it's ALI (Automotive Lift Institute) Certified.. Being made in the USA is another plus. Some popular lifts that are ALI Certified are: Rotary, Mohawk, BendPak, Challenger.

I have to wonder why anyone would purchase an auto lift on price alone. A cheap imported car lift presents significant safety risks. Due in part by inferior quality materials, questionable manufacturing practices, and lack of safety standards. Being ALI Certified ensures lifts pass rigorous safety, overload, and stability testing...

I just bought a Chinese lift from these guys. Very happy with the results, they answered the phone the first time and spoke English.
Hydraulic pump came in with a bent tank called them and they sent me a whole new pump. Plus touch up paint.
Very happy with the experience so far but I don’t have it up yet.

I wouldn't have a problem buying a lift made in another country, or even not certified. But if a price is too good to be true... $2k for new a 10k lift falls into that category. That price should have been a catalyst for more research. Lift gate for something that heavy and physically big also should have been discussed and thought through. It's not IKEA furniture that breaks down small enough to fit in the trunk of a car. Shame on this company but op set himself up for all of this too.

I know that area well. I moved from Suwanee before moving to where I am now. That area has quite a few regional distribution centers of all types of industry.
I’m just north of here, past Buford. With the new inland port opening soon there’s tons of distribution centers around.

I bought a replacement Hydraulic powerpack from these guys. Excellent to deal with and they had the lowest price on the internet for a name brand powerpack, SPX / Stone.

I kind of did set myself up. I am not in the shipping business so I figured maybe they had a way of packaging it to make it able to be unloaded on a lift gate. Like I said...I should have known better.
As to the $2K lift...at the recommendation of a couple of people I was able to find one for $2200 shipped from APlus lifts. I am off to pick it up from the distribution center now. They were awesome people to deal with. Once I unpack it I will come back with some more feedback.

I suspect it's pretty much the same deal as before. The previous seller is just using the dist center pickup as their address.
It's true their location is not a warehouse

This sounds a little misleading. If you read their About Us page someone could reason that the lift they're getting is ALI certified. It just states it's built in the same factories. Doesn't mean it meets the ALI standards.

The way that is written it DOES have the cert.

If they're trying to imply the lift has the cert because the factory builds certified versions they did it wrong...

Looking a little closer at their site, one of the lifts says ALI certified.

Update:
Weize refunded my money as promised.

I ordered a 10K clear floor lift from A Plus Lift who were awesome to deal with. A U.S. based family owned company where everyone spoke clear English and kept normal business hours. I gave them my zip code and they immediately identified a shipping yard 25 mins from my house. They answered all my questions and were a pleasure to deal with. For the record...I do not have any issue with anyone with an accent. I descend from a family of immigrants. But...if you work in sales or customer service, and your English is so bad that I can't understand WTF you are saying, then you shouldn't be working in sales or customer service.

For $2200 with free shipping the lift is basic and no frills (separate lock release for each side, no dog leg in the front legs to allow folding them straight back) but quality of materials seems good and it appears well built. For the expected volume of use in my home shop it should provide me with a long service life. It also comes with a 3 year warranty and I was assured by the company that they keep all parts in stock. I have it installed and bled, but haven't tested it with a load or put it to use yet. I will report back with another update when I do.

A Plus was recommended by a couple of people on this forum as well as other research I did. So far it seems like they are a solid choice for a budget lift.

A lift gate not being available isn't surprising. You'd need a truck mounted fork lift for home delivery of something like a lift. Cheap option is Home Depot rental and get the freight depot to load it on for you then something like an engine hoist to get it off at home.
