Welp this sent me down the opposite side using these to justify spending way more to get over free shipping.... A backup set of rethreaders will be nice, and a few other items...

Mine shipped, not arrived yet (in transit)
I did not order a 3/8 driver handle though - guessing they sold out

Mine came yesterday(I'm only 30 minutes from them), seem pretty nice. I ordered shortly after the OP made the post so nothing of mine was cancelled. Being a smaller company, I'm thinking they don't usually get the rush of orders like they probably did on Saturday and Sunday due to the OPs post.

Website is back up, lots out of stock

I REALLY hope they're just cleaning inventory and not preparing to shut down/sell out - because what is in stock has gone down in price from a week ago.
(I just ordered duplicates of a few items I know I use - just in case)

Looks like there is a risk they are closing:

Owner did two years ago, rest in peace.

Probably a good idea to buy anything left if you want it

Sure looks that way based on very limited remaining quantities. ***** to see it happen, I only have a few items of theirs but they are all excellent quality. I wonder if they also rebranded for other folks? Their screw extractors look awfully familiar.

For those who might need or want, they still had some thread files in stock. I suspect because most people can't or don't use them anymore. I put in an order, will see if it gets filled or not. Thread files are underappreciated tools. ;)

I think they did rebrand, you see "nu-thread" under a few names
But I also wonder if there is a second USA manufacturer? The Lang Tools brand made in USA onse have a different end shape it looks like, so I wonder who makes them for Lang?
Edit: unless Lang themselves manufactures?

We may see some of this stock at Epstein's in the future. This looks like something they would take on, and they already carry some Jawco items.

Second order was refunded in full - I guess they sold everything at the auction
Hope HJE got the stock or someone similar

My small order shipped with, purportedly, everything I ordered. Only problem I am having is the brain donors at USPS bouncing it between two post offices in Phoenix and not actually delivering it. Was supposed to arrive today, now "maybe tomorrow". Guess we'll see if it ever shows up. :dunno:

Well, product arrived today and intact, finally. Thread files are fine, clearly marked/stamped with "USA". The extractors on the other hand, do not indicate USA anywhere on the pouch or the extractors themselves. Considering that Jawco slapped "USA" on their other products rather conspicuously and deliberately, it leads me to think these are probably imported. Also, older versions of this same Jawco SE-50 extractor set were actually stamped Japan, so I suspect they never did make these in-house. They certainly didn't start and then "forget" to stamp USA anywhere on it like their other stuff. What ***** is that it was clearly listed as Made in USA on the website when I ordered them. Scumbags. 🤬

For $5 they cost me, I will probably just donate them or toss them. I've read too many bad reviews of the import versions (under several brands) of these extractors sheering off, going dull on first use and so on. I'd rather not take my chances since I already have the almost identical (but actually US-made) Proto set from many years back. I've used those several times and know that they actually work and hold up.

wtf...I don't understand this stuff

My cman usa rethreader has a note inside the box (from Lang) stating its made in usa. None of the parts are usa-stamped except for the files. My jawco sets I'm guessing are exactly the same, but I don't have access to them to check. The Jawco files, which are in my Cman rethreader kit, clearly say "usa". It absolutely wouldn't shock me if other similar tools don't have COO stamps, because the paperwork is printed somewhere else.

The point is there's other stuff to worry about. Test them out before you throw them away.

$5 will buy you exactly 2pcs of 1/2-13 Grade 8 (nut, bolt, washer) sets from china. And that is bulk pricing discount at Tractor Supply these days (its $10/lb). In other words, to test those things, will probably cost you a couple bucks, but maybe its worth it?

Also so you don't feel like you got ripped off...? testing them out is probably good for your sanity rather than being bitter/mad about it...! And the community would benefit from real data rather than jumping to conclusions that maybe isn't warranted.

I wasn't trying to start a debate, I'm not worried, I'm not bitter and I'm not jumping to conclusions. I simply shared my observations and my suspicions about the country of origin based on the data points available to me. I don't value my time so poorly that I'd ever spend it validating mine or anyone else's "opinion on the Internet" about a $5 product. If anyone cares that much, they're free to grab a set of eBay and find out for themselves. ;)
