After the utmost care in measurements making sure I would have the perfect exit point on the exterior wall, I failed to realize I’ll be about 2 feet short on the line set from ideal condenser position.

I wanted the IDU to sit fairly center in 3 car garage for optimal air flow, ultimately does it matter? New position would shift it into the third bay up against the golf sim curtain.

I created a poll to help me cure or enable my perfectionism and see how many of you are out there vs saying f it, not worth the hassle

Hang the compressor unit on the wall, and get your 2 feet. They're better off on the wall anyway. Keeps the crud splash and lawn clippings out of them. I always buy a wall hanger set for every minisplit I install. I've only installed 2 on the ground, and that is because they were on a big slab, and well sheltered.

Not prepared to hang it on the wall, worried about flex and the thing is 135lbs… but I see your point

Mine is on a stand about 18" above the ground to keep it out of grass clippings and also the snow in the winter. Can the condenser not be moved over 2 feet?
My concern was how close it would be to the AC unit and air flow. Pic doesn’t do justice but two feet over would just be 🤙 between the two

Now I’m kinda entertaining it. Everyone keeps. Talking about noise and vibration issues. I’m also worried about vinyl flex/expansion. Area doesn’t get any sun

Minisplits really don't have much noise and vibration. None of my customers have ever complained of noise. Make sure you use the rubber mounts.

I make PVC mounting blocks and run j-channel around them. No expansion issues.

You don't take the siding down. You cut the hole with a buzzer, then slip your j-channel in with lots of construction adhesive. Then set your block.
Or.
You could make a sawtooth PVC block to lay over the siding if you didn't have much sun exposure, like the North side or deep eaves.

Installed my pioneer 18kbtu condenser on my house in 2017. My garage is on the other side of the wall. When running full bore, i can just barely hear a whine from the condenser while standing in the garage opposite the condenser. If it’s noise you worry about, don’t. Its also SO NICE working on the condenser at counter height. Cheers.

EDITED TO ADD: make sure you have 10’ of lineset from your condenser to the head unit. Or risk the condenser pulling in liquid refrigerant from the short lineset and slowly eating away at the compressor. It will sound like bubbling or crackling in your head unit. Ask me how i know.

And your poll doesn’t work.

Seems to work? Ppl are voting

Did you do a block with j channels? I have 2x4 wall so o would have to span 3 studs to get a secure mount.

What about line set exit? I was just cut a hole and caulk a notched surface mounting block

Low profile unistrut from home depot. long enough to span 3 studs. See pic. That’s a 18kbtu unit. Dunno its weight but it wasn’t light. Used lag bolts for the unistrut. Aint goin nowhere.

maybe my ipad doesn’t show the poll. I can click on ‘results’ And see those. Dunno. Cheers.
