I need a spindle-return spring. Coil type. This drill dates to the early 1940s. Part # is dp-16. I wasn't able to find anything on line. Any help would be great. Thanks, Tom

I don't know if I could find him again. There is/was a guy in OH north of Columbus going towards Dayton, he bought up all their inventory. He had truckloads of Drill press, lathe and other Delta machinery. I found an ad on the vintage machinery forum. Someone posted it for him. He only did things old school via phone and snail mail. This was before Covid. I called him asked for a part on my 1942 DP that was cast Aluminum part. He said he had one and asked if I needed anything else. He ended up sending me the correct part and a bunch of other drills and bearing that fit in a USPS flat rate box. I sent him a check after I received it.

He sounded like a great older gentlemen that was retired and just wanted some company. I hope he is still around. I'll look but I'm not sure I could find the post again. I did find the part I was looking for on Ebay but they wanted way more than I paid. Supply and demand.....

Are you saying the link is dead, or not finding your part?

The hammerscale worked for me.
Link was fine but they didn't have the spring I need. Found one on eBay that may work. Will follow up next week after I get it.

I was able to make the spring I got work. I was 8mm thick. I had ordered 7mm thick. This made it hard to work with. Hand to shorten the length and redo the outer end from loop type to 90 degree bend. If anyone needs more info let me know.
