Naw man, I am broke right now. My kid has a ton of medical bills monthly that are absolutely devastating. I am hoping next year his diagnosis verbiage changes and I can get insurance to cover it.

I do buy HF and GW because the SO rep wont stop at my shop. The tool reps in my area wont stop unless I have 3 techs. You buy those tools for convenience and service no reason to biy them if you are not receiving any of it.

I wasn't referring to you, but I hope your son gets better soon and the bills get more manageable.

Bought the Icon 1/4” roto yesterday morning for some Bobcat work. Got it home, took it apart (as you do), and found it was well greased. First day with it, I liked the form factor. Back drag was heavier than my 3/8” FHLF80. Louder clicks. Hoping it wears in. No shade on the Icon, just an example of how sensitive I think a lot of us are to our tools, which may help explain the passion we sometimes see here.

FWIW I have a THNF72 and the FHLF80. I purchased both used and very well broken in off of Ebay. The THNF72 is just a considerably louder/less smooth mechanism than the Dual 80 3/8 stuff.

I actually purchased that same Icon roto ratchet recently as a gift for a friend and of course I pulled it out of the box to compare to my Snap On. I think once broken in it would feel very comparable. As is it felt pretty minimally louder/clunkier compared to the SO. Also the direction selection dial was much easier to use on the Icon. But is taller/increasing the overall head height. I have been wanting to get a second THNF72 to convert to a 3/8 anvil. But I was impressed enough by the Icon that I think I will convert my SO to 3/8 and scoop the Icon for 1/4 work.

This thread made me have an identity crisis, apparently I'm simultaneously Elon Musk and trailer trash.

I will use almost anything to get a job done. My ratchet drawer is mostly Snappy and Icon/Pitts. There's a small showing of other brands... But not nearly to the same numbers. Lol. Extensions are a different story though.

I don’t really get the “stop being poor” joke. Somehow, that’s gone over my head. Sounds offensive and unnecessary, but so does some popular music so……

BUT! I have a lot of extensions. More than anyone truly needs. You can make long extensions by linking them together. You make long wobble extensions or locking extensions by linking them together with other extensions. But not me. I have full sets of wobbles, lockers, lock wobbles, extra long extensions…. It makes me feel rich and privileged. Like having a different car to drive for each day of the week.
