It's my wife's daily driver. She loves it. I like it a lot, for a vehicle without a clutch pedal LOL.
It initially caught her, and then my eye, because it's a really rare color combo. White with black / ebony interior and tan top. It's a 2SS car with every factory option and it had ZERO modifications except for the top of the line Borla stainless catback, added by the original owner.

It only had 77K miles when we bought in '23. Just hit 100K.
It was a random find - but we both like it a lot.
so you did nothing to dissuade me lol

I kinda want a ZL1 convertible with an auto just for a cruiser. But they are $$$$ so an SS might do just fine and are more reasonably priced. I should have bought before covid inflation hit.

Took some 10 minutes and my poor metal working skills to straighten the handle on top center drawer and straighten the drawer front but who ever bent the drawer actually expanded the slide track on the left side of which drops that side down.

Have to see if can close it up a bit.

Edit with picture of semi straightened drawer but the slide track isn't fixed yet.

Took some 10 minutes and my poor metal working skills to straighten the handle on top center drawer and straighten the drawer front but who ever bent the drawer actually expanded the slide track on the left side of which drops that side down.

Have to see if can close it up a bit.

No pics as I was lazy.
Pop the drawer out, use vise grips to gently squeeze along the track.

Cleaned, flung, put away. Reshittified. Transferred tools to new boxes. Refitted boxes. Relabeled boxes. Went through the future project pile and dumped it on the big bench. Pulled pen blanks from the cart. Found my special drill bits. While trying to setup the drill press, rediscovered the ring light. Machined out the hole to fit the quill. Siphoned out the last remaining gas from the snow blower and ran it out. While I’m reasonably certain my timing is good, one never knows… The snowblower went to the shed and the summer tires to the garage. It was then that I noticed a little puddle of gear lube on the floor. **** - the auger gearbox has a slow leak, so it’s time to order up the seals so at least I have them on hand before next season.

Continued to clean, organize and throw things away. Searched the stock rack for some aluminum extrusions, but came up short for a pending project, so Bezos gets a little more of my money. I did find a short length of 1/2 Aluminum conduit in the rack to make a new vise handle, so that was a win!

Then I tipped over a small tool cabinet while not fully paying attention. This one mostly some cordless tools and a bunch of batteries. Since the batteries were all 75-100% charged, the added weight of those electrons threw things off balance. Or maybe it was two casters catching a control joint in the floor simultaneously. Probably both.

I almost did, but I'm waiting one more week to change the snowblower oil and put it away for the year. If we get a freak late snowstorm in April, I'll just push it with the tractor bucket since it'll be wet and heavy anyway.

Our Ariens had a slow leak from the gearbox a couple of years ago. I topped it up and ordered the seals. It never leaked again--and I still have the seals on hand.

I put ours away a week ago. It saw one morning of use this season. So far.

I appreciate the "label maker" label, made by the label maker, on the case for the label maker.
Those damned plastic clams start to all look the same, thus the label. And it was a new label, cause it migrated from the case that became the microscope case. I was a labelling fool, but still have a couple hundred bins, 3 or 4 dozen drawers, and another couple dozen clams left to go.

My dogeater dribbles a couple tablespoons of hypoid every year. Not bad for a 60yo machine.

I finished up the Rotax 717......paint, rebuilt carb, and all! Then I tore the jet pump apart cause the liner was completely GONE, and the impeller blades were BEAT! Refininished those edges, put in a new liner and fresh lube, and buttoned everything back up. Even fired it off today woo-hoo!

My wife and I have been cleaning out our garage now since Sunday!

During the “Spring Cleaning “ process…my wife (believe it or not!) told me to stop messing around and go out and buy some of those large metal tool boxes and get rid of those numerous small tool boxes that I have been lugging around and scattered throughout the garage, etc.
So with that I told her that I really didn’t want to spend a lot of $$, nothing high end or popular, etc....so off we went to Lowe’s then Home Depot and finally Harbor Freight.
I came across a deal at Harbor Freight that I couldn’t pass up and well purchased two different styles of tool boxes from the Harbor Freight brand known as Yukon….and the truth is....I’m extremely pleased with them!
Glad I finally took the plunge !😂
Though still in the organization process and getting rid of stuff, etc. in the garage…..probably going to continue on till this coming weekend. 😓

(EDIT: :mad:....damn, I hate posting anything using my iphone because the typing is so damn small....didn't have time to proof read the thread and so had to comeback this morning and make spelling corrections!)

Your plan of ignoring it would appear to have merit. I think I’ll take two concurrent paths; order the seals and have them ready (which seems to have worked out for Beerhippie) as well as actively do nothing - which has worked out well enough for Kay.

Well in the continuing Ford Carb saga the idle would not adjust. Interwebs said clogged idle passages, so one more time off it came. Cleaned, used wire and carb cleaner. Reassembled and installed idle dropped 100 rpms, settles in at about 1000, should be 650. I am going to take one last look at the throttle linkage, then it is done, Worn out messing with it and a lot of these old Holleys have been replaced by newer easier and more user friendly chicom units. Will run it as is.

Then cleaned, flung, added labels to parts and fastener boxes, put tools away, opened a bezos box and then called it.

That carb has kicked your ***! Progress finally!

@larry4406 AMEN brother, I can now do it just about blindfolded and I have figured out how to make rate and then some taking it off anf putting it on. I'm worn and I don't give up easily.

I decided to go on a push and get the damned training wheels for the tables done today.

So I wasted nearly an hour going up to the clinic, filing out the paperwork and getting a tetanus booster--it's been at least a decade since my last. As usual, the meds wanted to go all ICU on it--started a lecture on nail bed damage--I explained that that thumb had been flattened more times than they'd had birthdays. Finally got out and got back to work. Got some other vacs while I was there. Shingles, in particular, sounded like a good idea--I had it in my thirties (extreme job-induced stress) and it *****.

Titebond waterproof. Largest glob is about 5". I figure let it dry and scrape it off.

I figured I just got "stung" until I looked down to see the end of the brad sticking out of my thumbnail. It took a pretty good tug to get it out--after I had a coworker grab the spray bottle of 90% ETOH I keep in the shop as a solvent. Wanted to be sure I didn't pull anything but the brad back through the wound.

Set up my new Amazon VFD bench drill press. It won't stay on that cabinet. I bought another 26" gray cabinet with drawers just for the press and for more storage. Been working on this garage since last month in our new house of a year. We raise two breeds of fancy pigeons. This one is Bubblez a two year old Italian Modena hen. She hangs out with me all day.

Maybe you have more control and I do. I had a '19 Mustang GT (460HP stock- mine wasn't stock) 6 speed manual for daily. It was 'video game' fast. In other words, triple digits felt like 55mph. Very comfy, ridiculously good mpg for all that power etc. But when the dealer I bought it from (new) offered me MORE for it (had over 30K miles on it) than I paid for it - it left.

Test drove a ZL1 coupe 6 speed manual car. GREAT deal (a friend). NOPE. At least w/ the Coyote in the GT you had to rev it out a bit. The ZL1? I'd have to Uber to work.

The SS ragtop w/ the 6.2/Auto is not a light car. Stock it's low 13 sec car w/ traction. Even it tempts me. That's why I like my '04 GT 4.6 2v. I only bought it because it's a Competition Orange car (1 of like 1K GT's). It's got few simple mods. It sounds good. It gets decent mpg. It's fun to drive. And w/ 4.10 gears and the TR3650 and live axle? I can beat on it some without needing a criminal defense attorney if I get pulled over.

And you can find some nice 5th and 6th Gen SS Camaro ragtops in good shape, usually mostly unmodified w/o dropping a ton of $


Cheapest ZL1 ragtop I've seen in decent shape was still over $40k.

My car is a bit 'unique'. Some of the mods on the car were done by the original owner when the car was new - Bassani headers, Bassini catted x pipe, Bassini cat back. Here's a post from my thread - the original owner saw the car online and reached out and sent pics

Control is relative. :) Yeah, that gen 5 ragtop must be 4200 lbs or so. My 77 Z28 would likely be faster due to power/weight differences, and gearing. Not sure if that is good or bad.

I've seen the ZL1s in the 30s, but gotta watch mileage. that's probably not happening but an SS might. unmodified is prerequisite.

How is that convertible with rain/water?

I installed (6) QRT tool holders in the center tray of my new, under construction, mobile, tool kit
They are the green pieces holding the four screwdrivers and two picks.

These holders were ordered with help and advice from @SouthernIllinois.
I wanted something that would hold the tools in position as well as hold the holders themselves in place when the box was opened horizontally or carried vertically.
The pieces I ordered were actually for 1/4” drive extensions, etc. I believe the magnets are stronger.

The QRT pieces work excellent! No movement at all so far. Highly recommended!

If anyone is interested. I posted my build out so far in this thread.

We keep it garaged - and after the fact we learned the the earlier convertibles (I think '13 was the last year) had some issues and GM redesigned the top later. But heavy rain, driving even parked - zero intrusion in the car. I did clean out the 'water bag' when we first got it (drain channels / hoses) when I noticed some water in the truck after a HEAVY rain. Haven't noticed anything since and that was over 2 years ago.

My wife LOVES the car and she's a convertible person. She had a '17 Mustang EB ragtop before the Camaro - which she really liked. But she likes the Camaro better. She likes the handling / steering and the brakes on the Camaro A LOT more than the Mustang. She's had Lexus (convertible hardtop - that thing was so loud on the highway with the top up it was ridiculous - the Camaro is MUCH quieter inside, even with aftermarket exhaust. She had a Beemer Z (before we met I think she had two of these). The Camaro is her favorite.

My only real gripe with her car, besides no clutch pedal, was the factory 'MyLink' GM entertainment system / radio. I solved that with a Metra (think it was Metra), iDatalink and a Carplay compatible head unit


Looks and sounds MUCH BETTER. I think they changed the Camaro instrument cluster / dash in 2016? Thing is - not really a of how that center section looks either - so w/o meaning to, this was the best of both worlds for us.

Ooooohhh so you had a good amount of time to think about pulling it out? lol That *****. Luckily it’s a small wound, probably heal quicker than a smashed nail.

This one had a nasty case of racking--just leaning on the end of it made it sway badly:

The table is too short for cross-bracing, so I cut down some corner brackets. I added a few screws through the top board. Much better.

I had some difficulty figuring out how to brace that on the sidehill break. This should work until it breaks. Might should oughta' have put those feet on the inside....

148 5/16" holes drilled and bolts driven....
