Titan telescoping inspection mirror. Not terribly exciting, I know. I have a couple of similar items, one is dentist mirror size, the other doesn't extend very far. So, I got this one to add to the collection.

Now as I head back to the car after picking up this "inspection mirror" at O'Reilly's, the though occurred to me what our friend @PelicanPines likely did with an inspection mirror like this back in the day and I chuckled. Probably something more hi-tech is used now. ;)

Pines is a legend in New Jersey, especially down the shore, for wearing these, Apparently, he was the inspiration for the song "Under the Boardwalk".

Hmmm.....seems like "Dorthy" was wearing the wrong shoes!

Heck....Dorthy's red ruby slippers have nothing on those shoes!

Wearing those......then click your heels 3 times would definitely get your A$$ back to where you came from!

Lowe's had 75% off a number of old floor models, and I got this Greenworks electric pressure washer cheap. I asked if I could use standard fittings on it (as I had a nice hose on a junked Craftsman) and the lawn and garden manager spoke up and said I could have it for $20, which I happily paid. It was around $150 MSRP new.

The gun & its hose is off my old one. It was a commercial one, and thus pretty pricey at the time.

Works great. Need to get a foam cannon for car washing and a nozzle pack next time I'm up at Harbor Freight. A rudimentary one would've been in the package of a new example, but I'm not complaining. Besides, the HF one is brass where the Greenworks OEM one is plastic.

Need to figure out how to make a case for them that snaps to the handle or sticks to the side. The big Craftsman could hold 5, this one only holds two.

This little 1 gallon ryobi cordless air compressor + air gun has been awesome.

Only 14lb so you just bring it around wherever.

Bought it for a very specific use case, but have been using it all over the place to blast things clean, unclog, etc.

*not my picture, I put a 6ft hose on mine since its cordless, no need for a long hose.Screenshot_20260325_124147_Samsung Internet.jpgScreenshot_20260325_123034_Gallery.jpg

Enjoying your GearWrench finds. I miss the old GearWrench with the red & black handles. They're good tools. After their rebrand/color change to yellow... I stopped buying their tools. Everything they sell now looks cheap and feels cheap. It's hard to take them serious.
You’ve got to get the right stuff. There is still the 20pc red screwdriver set on eBay for about same price as the current black/yellow model. I’ve been very impressed with their sockets, the 90t ratchets (better than icon in my opinion) and the screwdriver/picks.

A few new favorites that came in yesterday.

These PBSwiss 1000.x and 1900.x seem to be Japan only, or at least regional. I haven’t found the 1000 or 1900 in the catalog 🤷‍♂️ The hybrid of 190 series handle style but with SwissGrip materials is in the PBSwiss catalog for VDE drivers, but I can’t find them in non-VDE. These 3 fill in the rest of the set I got last year.

The blue silicone tray is from KTC and something about it is really nice. They have other sizes, I have a larger one on the way.

The double box end ratchet is also KTC. I have to say that I am not getting “made in Japan” vibes from it. None the less I really like it a lot.

Merry pliers just always have wicked serrations that I love.

Picked up this Vessel set mainly for the very short bits (18mm), comes with slotted, Phillips, and some hex items. This Japanese market version was cheaper than the US market item.

Also grabbed Wiha's ESD bit holder with their Centrofix bit holder. The normal sized one was strangely out of stock or higher priced on many sites. Wow, the solid hold on bits this thing has is amazing. All the various reviews about it were not lying. This is by far the solidest hold on a bit I've seen for a bit holder. The play or wobble is practically not existent. They should be putting this on everything. Where are the Centrofix hard handle holders? Where are the Centrofix square drive bit holders?

better than old robergrip?

That's what I was thinking. While not the best quality, my old RoboGrips are great simply because they clamp down on whatever I'm working on without having to adjust them. The guy who fixes the furnace is the same with his.

Thinking they're due an upgrade. They were my folks for 20-30 years before I got 'em, and they've been in my box 10.

I was with my father when he bought his set 20-30 years ago... And now that he's gone I had my set and his. They excel at " grab that real quick"... And I have some soft grips that fit over the Jaws that significantly reduce the gripping power, but they're kind of my go-to for that.

I only recently bought the knipex equivalent with the pieces that fit over the Jaws but I'm still as likely to grab the robos...

RoboGrips were one of the only tools I never saw my Dad open or take out of the package to use. I think he bough them at Sears in the early 90's, tucked them away and never bothered. Now that he is gone, I still have tucked away in the basement, waiting to someday see the light of day:

Car door removal/installation tool on Ebay for $115. If you have ever removed and installed a door, you know how awkward it can be aligning the hinges to bolt up, not to mention what it does to your back. Even a small door is at least 50 pounds and no, you can't really bend your knees picking it up. This seems well designed and made.

Picked up the newly introduced Tekton 1/4” flex head stubby.
IMG_0158.jpeg

This type ratchet is handy for a minimalist go-box setup. Keep a few different extensions around and you can ‘create’ the ratchet you need for the job.

Then it occurred to me that this would pair well with the Tekton small engine kit that I already owned:

IMG_0155.jpeg

I removed the bit driver ratchet, cut the foam to fit the new stubby wrench, then cut the lid foam to fit the bit driver near the long extension. All fits well and makes this kit pretty comprehensive.

Maun Flat Nose Parallel Plier 160mm (6.3") 4860-160
Went for this model after advice in this thread. There are various jaw types (these are serrated) and handle types (these are bare without spring) available. One jaw has a longitudal V groove for rounded objects, and the inner tips have a short unserrated area. The inner handle seam is ground but could do with improvement, so I'll take a file to it and might tape them up. Feels a bit unrefined next to other pliers of modern design and manufacture.

Knipex Long Reach Needle [Flat] Nose Pliers 200mm 28 01 200
Got the Tsunoda Duckbills a little while ago, they're great but the tips are a bit narrow at 5mm (another member agrees). These two models are different enough to have both, but if you wanted just the one, I might suggest the inbetween Knipex 30 11 190.

NWS ErgoCombi angled combination plier 1096-69-200
The Gedore 8248-160 caught my eye and I also looked at Orbis, but these seemed more useful, and more distinct from say a Knipex Cobra ES or a normal straight plier. There's also a long/needle nose version, but these will be more versatile and the tip is only 6mm wide anyway. The sightline is good for when you need to be precise. They're spring loaded but I might remove it. My first NWS, handles are comfy but the whole thing is a bit visually fussy, not that it matters.

Knipex Universal Tweezers 92 64 43 (120 mm, tip 2.7x1.2mm)
I've had the pointier ones for a while, but found they're often too fine and tear up delicate things. These have a much bigger tip, and the prongs are flat (no kink in them) so the contact area is long too.

I like to have a pair with squared-off tips on hand for pulling splinters.

Snap-On Thursday

14.4V 1/4” ratchet with battery.
Another set of screwdrivers.
Small pair of needle nose pliers.

I have two Milwaukee M12 1/4” ratchets (one regular and one long neck) but after using a friends SO, I wanted one. Keeping the M12 ratchets but this is already my favorite.

I have toolboxes spread around the shop. In one box I had a set of red, hard handled Tekton screwdrivers. I just never cared for them so this red set of SO screwdrivers is to replace them.
