I'm not a motorcycle guy but do work on them from time to time. I have 2 guys that I do a lot of car work for that have newer harley bikes, one a Pan America and one not sure the model. Harley has a feature that turns a wrench light on the dash every 2 years to flush your brake fluid. From reading it looks like this can only be turned off by the dealer and if you do the work yourself most dealers won't reset the light unless they do the work. From what I have read you could reset it yourself until 2022 HD made it only resettable by scan tool. Do they make an affordable scan tool for motorcycles? There have been a few times I could have used one and now could do the fluid changes on these bikes but can't reset the lights. I've done the fluid changes before when doing things like handle bar swaps and had to extend the brake and clutch cables and all the wiring. Dealership charges around 300 for the brake fluid service so wouldn't take long to pay for a scan tool depending on price and would be nice to have a scan tool for motorcycles when needed. But I don't do enough work on them to justify an expensive one like I can with car scan tools. So if the prices are too high I just won't work on them but just wondering if any cycle guys might have a recommendation for one? Thanks

I have Twins Scan 2 -ABS for my 2012 Harley. I bought it and thought i would need it for bleeding the brakes with the ABS but never wound up using it,I think they made new versions for the 2014 + bikes. Daytona twin tec llc was the name of the manufacture.
Looks like they tripled in price for what I paid for it.

While the ABS bleed could be helpful, I haven't looked up service info yet to see if harley says to do that when doing fluid exchange. The main reason is to be able to reset the brake wrench service light. On newer HD you have to have a scan tool to do this. Figured with 2 bikes that need it and dealership charging 300 dollars it might be worth getting a scan tool to have and do the work to pay for scan tool. Then would have scan tool for any future work I run into. Like I said I don't do much so don't want to invest a ton of money. But if it makes sense and can get a scan tool out of the deal it would be nice to have on hand for any future work. But if the only option is an expensive scan tool then it's not worth it to me and just tell them to take it to the dealership.

I found this from topdon that looks interesting but it says service resets vary. I sent them an email to see if they can confirm it will do the brake fluid change reset or not.

I never used mine so i dont know. I wound up pulling the main fuse so nothing could cycle at that time and then reinstalled it when I was done. Bled my new hoses fine and had no ABS issues afterwards.

I think Harley hurt themselves if they put in a light only a dealer can reset. No one else touches my bikes and it is not going in for a maintanece light. I wouldn't buy another if that is the case.

Check out OBDSTAR iScan Harley‑Davidson. About 300 - 400 bucks!
Says service resets and key programming up to 2022. Guess in 2022 HD did something to make it not possible to do service resets with anything but their scanner from what I have found. Think I found one aftermarket that sounded like it might be able to do it but it was around 1000 dollars which isn't really worth it to me so I didn't bother contacting them to see if it for sure could or not.

I suspect a Harley forum group will start a scanner loaner program. I have a dumb Fatboy (Terminator 2 style) without that high tech stuff. But I needed a Yamaha special puller tool for my Vmax. The guys on the forum said contact one of the members and he will loan it to you, just pay the shipping. Worked out great.

What year is your bike? That unit only covers up to 2011 models. >>>> ITM HD1 ABS Flush Utility for 2008 – 2011 Harleys.
It looks like they have other models that cover 2021+ models. They have a help line to verify which version is needed.

I use it on my 2012, but theyhave different models for different years. Go to home page on the website and you should find what you need. Email them with any questions, they’re pretty responsive.
