Anyone using the Bendpak GoAir mini compressor on their lift? Other ideas?

Been shopping around for a four-post lift, and Bendpak is the only brand with one narrow enough to fit in the location i need it.

Anyway, as y'all know, they need a compressor to disengage the locks to lift the platform.

Trying to decide on a compressor for this. I know ANYTHING will work as long as it's got 30-40 PSI, but I'd like something compact and mountable, out of the way, etc...

So, anyone using the Bendpak Go Air Mini? Yeah, I know it's more expensive than most anything else that does the same thing, but I like that it mounts out of the way on the post, and seems nicely integrated. Is it quiet? Work ok? Do you use it for anything else?

Otherwise, any other suggestions for a little compressor? I have a big compressor for other things, and I'll run a line over if necessary, but just thought something small for this job would be good.

VDub,

I can tell you from experience that anything wider than the columns is a potential problem. I have an HD-9 and often have to fold the mirrors and be VERY careful as I drive onto the runways. I suspect that will be even more difficult with the Narrow lift.

I ran a line with quick connect to my lift from my big compressor and it’s worked out great. I can easily disconnect and roll the lift to the other bay for cleaning etc.

Cheers,
BN

How narrow is that space? The Amgo 407-P is very compact……Locks are manual and it’s wide enough for a 69 Mustang and a 69 F100.

Yeah, that's a good point. The cars I'd be driving on it are fairly small, but it's worth considering. The HD-P7 is 90.25" between the posts, so I probably have 10" on each side for the widest car (with mirrors folded). But I assume I'd be mounting the compressor ABOVE any mirrors, etc...

I do have another place to mount a small compressor close to the lift, so it doesn't NEED to be mounted on the post. There are some other wall-mountable compressors out there, so I do have options.

Width of the space is 105" so I need the narrow lift, which is about 100" wide.

Anyway, just curious if anyone has experience with the Bendpak one.

I would not worry about the width of the compressor on the column if you are mounting it on a front column and drive onto the lift from the rear. Mirrors won’t be near the compressor.

Looks convenient, but premium priced for the capability. Maybe the bolt on convenience is worth the extra money. My lift is plumbed to my shop compressor. I have a high wall port I installed for this purpose and have a hose down the side of the column. My motor power runs up the column next to it and plugs into a high wall box next to the air port.

There are other little 1/2 to 1 gallon compressors you might buy cheaper but you have to make a mount for them. Ideally you would also install an easy to reach on/off switch and a tank drain hose. I have those for my shop compressor.

Your shop doesn't have air?

Assuming it does I really don't understand the need to mount a compressor directly on the lift. Am I overlooking something?

For DIYers who don’t use air much, the question may be to run a big compressor when using the lift or to buy a mini one instead. I have a 60 gallon that I rarely use except for the lift and it is massive overkill for that job.

This is a new space for me, and I don't have a compressor in here yet. But I will eventually move the big unit from my home garage over here. Could certainly use that eventually.

Although, you're right, if that's the plan, maybe (as @pbon mentioned) I get a cheap, portable one for now, and just plumb in the bigger one when I bring it over.

The only problem with cheap portable ones is they sound like a bunch of rocks in a can. Some of the Harbor Freight are quiet as are the California brand, but I am not sure how much more they cost. My 60
gallon is upstairs so the sound is muffled.
