(2) 10x10 doors, and (1) 8x8 door. Ceilings are 12'8", so hoping to have the doors elevate to around 12'.

Is it possible to determine spring size, track length, angle, etc before I have the doors. Everywhere I've read (DMM, forums, etc) talks about specific measurements, weighing the door, etc. The garage isn't built yet so I don't have the doors or any of this information.

It would be more labor, but would this actually be a better investment down the road? i.e. Get and install doors, and down the road get all the exact measurements, weights, etc and find the parts required, then update?

I'm reaching out to the door supplier to see if they have kits they supply with the doors, but my hopes aren't super high.

My garage door installer got the track kits from a 12' door for the 10' tall doors I have. He combined that with the standard 10' spring.

Garage doors are like Legos. There are not that many parts, they just get put together in different ways.

Every garage door manufacturer I've ever dealt with could make a high lift kit. All you really need to know is the size of the door and the approximate height of the ceiling. The manufacturer already knows how much their doors weight and what size spring they need for any height. It is much cheaper to order your door with its high lift kit initially instead of modifying it later. The Cloplay website will walk you through the high lift measurements.

I think it's pretty easy, to be honest. I DIY'ed. It's so expensive now to "have things done" that I would guess you're gonna save a lot just by figuring it out on your own.

HOWEVER: With a 10' high door and a 12 elevation, you won't need anything to do that. That's nothing. You need to scrounge a really tiny bit of extra track (cut it off the tails, maybe). That's free.

You might want to buy some special drums for the little door. Maybe.

Just do it right the first time. Every door manufacturer does these track configurations all the time. It might seem special to you, but it is a daily thing for them.
