I needed a few new bolt cutters, and these Doyle’s were 35% off this week, along with the Icon twin grip knock off:

Not really a tool, but my son wanted to upgrade the neighbors power wheels so it can keep up (sorta) with his TRX90. I agreed, but told him he is in charge of doing the wrench time on the upgrade (he is 10 and his buddy is 5), so should be a whole lot
more fun:

Definitely want to see your mods!

Mike
Squared the legs and added braces front and back.

This was first on my to-do list because you really need someplace to put your foot on to hold it down while you apply upward pressure when bending metal.

I don't believe I am going to do any other of the modifications you see on YouTube until I actually use it and see if they are really needed for my application.

Ended up buying a bit more from the seller with all the Starrett tools.

  • The No.721 digital caliper was hard to pass up. It needs a repair of the battery contact but appears to be otherwise unused.
  • The Digitapes were just too cool and the 50' tape is something I've wanted for a while.
  • A few ratcheting tap handles, a couple of center punches, a carbide scribe, and a handful of used punches for rougher use.

Follow up on an item previously posted - a tiny low-end combination 1/4" ratchet and bit driver. Bought two of these in January. Gave one to my buddy. Walked outside yesterday and he had the thing laying on the radiator support of the Ranger.
"Oh, you're actually using that thing," I noted.
"Yeah. I keep it in a pocket in my bag. Otherwise I have to dig out the Snap-on kit or the Tekton kit."
What he was more impressed with were the odd little "2 in 1 Socket Adapters" I picked up at the same time. He raved about them. Go figure.
Ratchet is currently $10.99 at O'Reilly's
Socket Adapter set currently $8.99 (set of three)
YMMV

Performance Tool W83196 24 inch Flexible Magnetic / Claw pick up tool with LIGHT
$12.99 at O'Reilly's Auto Parts
We both got a good laugh out of it. The light is actually surprisingly bright - enough to spot that nut you dropped onto the crossmember, anyway. (y)

I’ve been wanting a ratcheting screwdriver to put in my Harley tool kit, and came across this purple one on the truck last week:
IMG_6245.jpeg

Also had FoamFit Tools make me a few organizers, one was for my 3 sets of Icon T-handles and another for the Icon SAE & Metric stubby flex ratcheting wrenches;

Holy "T" handle Art. That **** is magnificent.

Monte, have you used these before and do they work?
First order + try. I have bulk material in small plastic boxes right now.
Saw similar bags in this tool box tours video
I think he uses "Wisedry" brand.

Now I have to decide if I want to buy those or continue tossing the ones that come in packages of electronics in my plier drawer. I have a few dozen of those spread throughout the drawer now.
for free is better of course :) (y)

Cool! That GT72 will be so much easier to conceal in an engine compartment!

Self made tool arrival, 3D printed pliers racks with a 45* angle to tilt the pliers over enough so I can close the drawer.

Gonna have to do something similar. Even with the 3D printed racks I have now (a modular design off Makerworld), I still have to use a deep drawer; and both my top chests only have one.

Here is the link to the 3Dmodel that I used for my pliers racks. I had to be within 2.75" for my pliers to clear the drawer above, pretty short compared to most tool boxes, then again it's an older USG series 1. With the integral bottom the rack is pretty stable.

Playing with the "Tool Box Widgets" Not a permanent location but having fun. Not sure about the shinney nomenclature yet.

The TBW wrench organizers have wider spacing and stand the wrenches more vertically than other organizers like the Ernst modular pro.. So lower density if you set them up like you have in the picture. But because of the spacing and verticality, you can interleave wrenches and get a pretty dense layout...

Now if you have plenty of drawer space anyway, doesn't matter.

Some TBW socket setups as well...

Not sure about the socket holders. I've used the post style for a long time. I'll have to try a set. I have a Matco Cart and a 44" box from HF I got off the truck as a trade-in.

I picked up a few SK items recently... Pleasantly surprised that the ratchets were made in Taiwan, not China.

I never liked SKs ratchets (only used the old US made versions).

I do own their new ratcheting combo wrenches and the long reach pliers.

Both are very nice and made in China.

I would prefer Taiwan for COO, but China CAN and DOES make some quality product.

I use the **** out of this Hercules impact driver. It's small and will take anything loose on a race car. Also use it to run fasteners snug then hand tighten them to final torque. Probably shouldn't have figured out how handy it was for trailer wheels. I originally bought Hercules hex to square adapters, thinking they'd be the safety valve and break before the chuck did. That's all good until you're halfway through something and one breaks.

So, I replaced them with these Klein adapters. They're only .020" larger than the Hercules where it broke. I'm hoping for better metallurgy.

Well, I bit the bullet picked up this ratchet today. I'm loving the handle and color combo. I also grabbed the filter claw (w/adapter) that I've been meaning to get.
