Looking for some type of material I can make drawer trim with. HF used to sell a black trim kit, but no more.
I have somewhat of a mis-mash of HF toolboxes. Series 1, 2 and 3. The drawer lip appears to be the same. I removed the bright trim on a series 2 and replaced with some black rubber U shaped adhesive trim. It's OK but looking for a better solution, something metal. Pinch type not adhesive.

Interesting. I have lots of vinyl.

Looks like DIY anodizing is fairly simple.

I read a few threads here that suggest DIY anodizing is.... trickier then expected?

Vinyl is so easy to apply that even when it tears and scratches it's easy enough to replace

I just spray bomb mine, pull and spray when they start looking bad again

I'd probably plasticote on one and see how it turns out and holds up vs some of the other methods mentioned here.

The series 3 has a cheap black plastic edge trim. Seems like I should be able to find something like that.

The series 1 has expensive aluminum extrusion to hold a label. Maybe I could just slip a piece of black plastic into the slot. or cut vinyl strips.

Any powdercoat shop could do them in any color you want. It doesnt need to be a mystery, they do stuff like this every day- and with the number of shops that do it they have to be competitive.
