I believe that the first saw of that design that I bought was a Sandvik brand. This design has been sold under several brand names. I love it because it is easier to control the cut than traditional designs.

Been looking for the right deal to load my old Craftsman wrench rack. Found a listing for 29 pieces all =V= with a few single -V- pieces. All have pointed A’s… $40. Filled the rack with all =V= , missing the 13/16-25/32…Added a duplicate to fill the rack for now. Then i picked up a early (64 ish) Mitutoyo 0-1 for $10…I think they were both money well spent.

I was near the Restore in the nearby larger city, so I stopped by. They have changed the way they display things, so it requires more digging. Not only that, but the lighting is much dimmer. Next time I'm bringing a battery-powered work light!

Restore.jpg

Plomb (ground off) 5428 1/2 dr. 12-pt. socket 7/8

I wandered around and discovered that they had expanded the inventory space to a covered outside area. There I found a large Kennedy "hip roof" toolbox in pretty good shape.

I've found this Nebo light to be very handy. It will clip right on the brim of a hat. It allows me to have both hands free and buy more tools. Recharges quickly while driving.

I find that by having a flashlight, I have found tools that others have missed. I have found Snap-on tools in boxes that many flippers and other people have looked through… hours into an estate sale… long after anything that good should have been gone.

I already carry four things when scrounging:
Pocket slide calipers
Small Tape Measure
Magnifying Glass
Tiny Wire Brush

The measuring tools are quite useful.
The magnifying glass and wire brush often help identify the item as interesting or not.

I'm sure to add a light to the list.

You can get ball caps with LED "headlights" built into the brim I use an older one for my nighttime Camp hat. Super handy.

they sell them now either rechargeable or with flat button cels

I have carried a Dorcey AAA LED pocket flashlight for over 30 years. I used it every single day.

At late entry “You ****” to @3baygarage for the amazing haul, and a quick **** for the Craftsman rack of @INSP380 .

Todays incoming for not inconsiderable £50 ($67) is Hernia inducing Record No6 Vice, in fair condition, winding well, but with seemingly recent jaws as a bonus 👍 The two 12”NOS Irega adjustables sweetened the deal.

We traveled up to the Texas Panhandle to unfortunately attend a close friend’s funeral. While we were there we went by the Council of the Blind thrift store, I picked up some wrenches for $5. On our road trip home, we stopped at an antique/junk store in Clarendon. I found this very rusted Hinsdale G20 box with sockets stuff. The box had dirt in it and had been sitting out in the elements. I probably paid too much considering the condition but I could not leave it behind. Paid $30. Once we got back home, I had to put everything through the wire wheel just to try and read any markings. I am going to put the box in some evaporust and try to preserve it. I love a challenge. A few of the sockets were BOG MFG Co. I have never seen them before. Sadly some of the others were to pitted to read.
here is what I got.
I cleaned up the Hinsdale socket set and box. Painted it a Hunter Green. Just wanted to share.

Mostly, yes. The two American Lock Co. / US locks have them. A couple stacked-plate locks (probably Master) do. The item was a brainfart on my part - I have a drawer of locks and keys, and did not not need any more, but I’ll clean these up and toss them in there.

Well for today's grand estate sale , you needed:
knee and elbow pads to keep them at bay
a large stick or baton to beat them away
Only then could you dig ,find and purchase
all while wearing socks, or putting on booties(too slow)
I'll get my treasure from plundering and pillaging out soon and photo/inventory/post

I guess I didn't list the phone, as it's always in my pocket. IO do use it a lot, both for grabbing quick pic of things to post here (mostly "what the hell is it?") and to get good, readable pics of equipment data plates that I can't easily read.

Stopped at a garage sale this morning, made a huge wrench haul. Mostly Craftsman VV and VA. Some Thorsen, SK, Proto, etc. In the Craftsman combo wrenches, I was excited to find some 6pt wrenches. Picked up a handful of other tools. I never can pass up those SK boxes. I thought the propane torch case was cool. Spent $50.

Damn!! They publish that in advance? We find out about ours a week or two before the event if we're lucky. Too bad my kids are no longer there.

Around me, most sales get published on FB and there are so many "garage sale" and "thrift sale" FB pages that it is hard to find the sales-and the people leave their ads up for weeks or months after they are over, so there are a lot to try to sort through. And it seems that more and more people just put a sign on the corner, so you never find out about a sale unless you happen to drive through the neighborhood.

No FB here. And most of the good stops will be outside of the small towns because of what's going on "in town". Guarantee most of those folks don't FB either

FB has been useless for yard, garage, estate sales. It usually posts them to my feed days after they are over.

Next Door has some, put their piss poor search engine gives you months old ones first.

FB seems to be by far how most sales around here are posted. I've never checked Next Door, but pretty much no one in the area uses CL.

That and the random roadside signs, usually printed too small, and/or posted in such a way they can't be read without parking and walking over to read them. Then the signs are left up until the weather takes them down--with no dates. My favorites are the signs that assume you enjoy a good wild-goose chase to find the sale--if you can.

Rare Wednesday sale (listed, like most good sales around here, on Craigslist) of shop stuff and nothing priced. Just my thing. Only, it was open from 11-2 Weds and Thursday, so only the pickers and me, who was late due to a Drs appointment. So, I missed so really good stuff that I really don't need, but had a good time BSing with the pickers, and learned alot from them, which is nice. Anyway:

Bonney Speeder, unknown speeder, unopened pack of mouse traps, threaded rod (I think for a lathe cross slide), large oilite bearing, Williams hook and pin spanners, Blackhawk arrowhead socket (sadly blown out), 61-80 drill index (new), 2 large drill bits (1-1/8, 1-3/16), S-wrench, Chilton's shop handbook, Stanley lever cap, Lakeside ratcheting wrench, BSA wrench, unmarked inside divider, offset screwdriver, and Proto 24oz ball pein. $15

This is the head of the speeder I can quite put my finger on the maker, no markings on it:

After today's estate sale and enroute to buy an item off FB Marketplace, I came across a sign with yard and barn sale. No dates but the signs looked fresh. Surprised to find they started today. Lady remarked to check out the tractors for sale in the barn...where there are tractors, there are tools! This lot consists of New Britain, Fleet, Williams and Indestro wrenches and sockets, Napa, Challenger wrenches and varying drives of Bonney, Snap-On, Penncraft, Crescent, Firestone, Action and Herbrand sockets. Drive tools are 1/2" Challenger ratchet, Crescent 1/4" flex handle and a full Westline 1/4" hex set and driver (appears new). Also a McKaig-Hatch 10" crescent wrench and a nice Schnader tire pressure gauge. Oh, and a Husky 1/4 drive CM612 for my 1973 #9123 set! And a 1/2 to 3/4 Snap-On adapter1000024165.jpg1000024166.jpg
