CAT carrying Stahlwille ratchets now

Ran across a video this morning of a guy showing a CAT-branded Stahlwille flex-head ratchet. Apparently CAT sent it to him as a pre-release.

I looked on the CAT site. Was able to find the standard, quick release with comfort grip Stahlwille ratchets. 1/4” and 3/8” are a bit less the KC Tool’s current prices. 1/2” is oddly a bit more.

Glad they didn’t make the handles yellow. A yellow button could have been cool. The monochromatic look is also pretty cool though.

Here's an interesting point. When I sold TOPTUL they told me that they consider Stahlwille the standard or the world and copy their designs because they feel they are the best. I considered that be be high praise from a competitor.

Hate to see them ditch a US made ratchet for an import, but the Williams sourced 36 tooth isn’t anything to write home about.

Bragging about copying “the best” is a weird flex.

I don’t believe thats a pre-release as we had a member here buy one recently.
More like a new release.

Here’s the thread:

I take anything Thinkharder says with a grain of salt. It’s abundantly obvious he is just learning about tools but we all started somewhere. Wish him the best as his knowledge grows.
I think we have more Youtubers lurking in the shadows here than many realize.
I know its annoying to some when members like pfbz post their videos, but I appreciate the transparency instead of those hiding and taking ideas to use as their own to monetize.

Sure beats copying the worst. This concept is hardly new. Everybody copies somebody, particularly in Taiwan with the possible exception of KABO, or have you missed most of the ICON stuff at Harbor Freight.

Interesting. Stahlwille would not have been my first choice for ratchets but that’s just me. Kinda cool seeing CAT go in some new directions for their tools.

Again, who today is copying the 20-36 tooth Koken or Williams ratchets? Sorry, I know they have their fans, but it's not 1970 anymore. Anyone can go to Home Depot, Advance, Auto Zone, Ace..... and buy something vastly superior at a fraction of the cost.

I don't own one, but that Stahlwille ratchet tests pretty damn good at PF. yeah, I know, PF *****, his tests are terrible.....

The Stahlwille sourced flex head 3/8" is available in the Cat parts system, he just got the part number wrong in his video.

While I appreciate German quality and engineering, Stahlwille's designs always seem overly "thicc" when it comes to their ratchets. I bought their pliers on super sale from KC Tool and am very pleased ($15, who can complain?!).

I didn’t write anything after the CAT/ Stahlwille locking flex head was posted, and I also kept my fingers still after the CAT/ Athlet/HKR handled seal pick was posted.

But seeing this, I can’t help but to think again about the latest CAT sockets Snap-On/Williams thread and the rumors relayed.

While this is still very far from ending a partnership, I think it’s very interesting. To me, from the outside, it looks like CAT was on the hunt for updated ratchets and ”Snap-on” probably denied them. And now we’re seeing the Stahlwille ratchets.

Very interesting, imho.

Kind regards,
Olli

Flex head part numbers are:
665-0231: 1/4"flex head
665-0232: 3/8" flex head
665-0233: 1/2" flex head

It also looks like there is a set available with some sort of foam insert with all three. That is 665-0234. From a quick search, I don't see a Stahlwille set with foam, so this might be unique to the CAT tools.

This might have done from a branding perspective. CAT has been moving to more branding on everything and maybe Snap-On didn't want to stamp their premium ratchets with CAT instead of Snap-On.

May I ask what CAT Dealer has those prices? My local Dealer seems to be much, much higher.
