My current 3-blade 52" ceiling fans in my shop are over 10 years old now and they just ain't getting it done. My buddy knew I wanted to upgrade so when he found these on sale he sent me a link. The price was right at $99 for a 72" fan with a 6-speed remote, so I pulled the trigger on one to test.

We got it installed last night and there was quite a difference between the amount of air being moved from before. Being very satisfied with this one, I pulled the trigger on two more that I should get installed by this weekend.

I had to look up those bags, never seen that style for a VFR before. Corbin? Those looks slick, much nicer than the factory style bags.

I have a 2006, not nearly as clean :)
Yes those are Corbins that were on my first '98 when I bought it. I've had to rebuild all the mounts because they sucked, but I like the bags.

Last night I did a front brake job on a 2021 Toyota Rav 4 for my co-worker's sister. I thought being a 5 year old car it wouldn't be too bad, but it looked like she lived in the damn thing. Oh, well the brakes are on the outside so whatever.

I remembered to ask her where the wheel key was for the locking lugs, but upon first glance I decided I didn't need it. Why? Because there was no lug nut on that stud...or on two of the other four wheels! She had just had new tires installed at a local shop last week and I guess they forgot to replace the wheel locks on THREE of the wheels? !!?? I pointed it out to her and she said she'd contact the shop who I'm sure will freely admit they left off a lug nut on three wheels....yeah right.

Anyway, I replaced the pads and rotors, cleaned and lubed the slider pins, and re-torqued the four remaining lug nuts and called it a night. She came to pick it up this morning and told me to just leaves the keys in it as I don't think she was worried anyone would want to steal it...unless they got a tetanus shot first...LOL.

Those are great fans. Put one in our family room a couple years ago. Not only does it move a lot of air the light is surprisingly bright.

Pics of your install? How are the blades and what are they made out of?

Whoo Hoo...
I've been thinking about getting back to finishing my garage door refurb all winter...
Wanted to tackle it before the hot humid weather hits...
Lots and lots of miter cuts are required... Will task that operation to my old Black & Decker "Professional" (Ha Ha) saw...
Set up my B&D Workmate (I always spend the first and last 15 min each, trying to figure out which tab to push to get it going)

IMG_5487.jpg

Not to bad of a fit from such a cheap azz saw...
IMG_5488.jpg

It's supposed to start raining so I have to pull the plug... Just gotta figure out how to work the tabs on the Workmate...

Q7 wouldn't start at farm yesterday, so charged battery a bit and made a run down to the bale yard to drop a trailer and headed out on the 4 miles and a bit to get home. JUST managed to get into driveway, no doubt from dead alternator. We were going to take it to Edmonton on Tuesday, so had to break the ice from bottom of rollup door to outer (not heated) work bay to rip out the alternator. Phoned around a bit thinking worst case I would just buy a new one. Dealer quoted just under $2,600 but after I finished LMFAO he told me none in Canada and he had never sold one, so weeks away. I was a bit less than impressed with that and wondered if there was a control module between regulator and battery + (i.e. term 30) but my shop foreman friend told me not on this car. So, tried to connect VCDS and got told my dongle needed a firmware update. so once I do that and scan for codes (to be 100% sure nothing else going on) I will rip it out (need to take half the car apart it seems) and drag it to my go-to starter/alternator shop - who already said they don't likely have parts on hand for this (Valeo 220 amp) model.

You would not believe what some people do to a automobile in a short period of time.....

RA has a new VALEO 220amp for $570 - I'm assuming a rebuild will be cheaper.

By the time I ship it up here it will come close to the thousand loonies or so that is the going price for a Wilson rebuild. They are NOT a source I would trust. I can get a complete new clone made of Chinesium for about $300 and I would trust it as much as Wilson. The shop I am taking it to has done starters and generators by the dozens from back in our restoration days and I know the owners well - and can set parts quality limits they will gladly stick to. What will be interesting is my first move was to T60 the belt tensioner out of the way (of course the largest I had was T55 so quick trip to town to buy a red set up to 60) to have a feel at the sprag clutch in the pulley. It seemed just fine but the alternator itself is tight.

Meaning Rock Auto? Just curious - why's that? I've been using them for more than a decade. Never had an issue. Granted most of the stuff I buy from them is OEM or OEM Supplier quality. Internal engine parts, electrical, sensors etc. I don't buy their cheap stuff - but you can get OEM quality (or better) parts from them for the same price or cheaper than the local chain garbage.

Is it a European make deal? Granted I don't do too much with German stuff.

Audi - as is every other EU luxo brand - is really good at making something worth x supposing to be worth 10x. Normally I would just go to Worldpac, but after 40 years the closed my account because I no longer buy enough to keep some snot nosed brat with a shiny new MBA on track to show results he can cash in on with next M&A deal before the marketplace corrects things. Not even sure WHERE this one was made, will see if anything on data plate/

And a Dog Olympics. contender!
18 lbs of running, leaping, flying Wonder. From a dead stop, on the ottoman, she can go about 10-12 feet, hit the hearth rug, and surf it to the back door. She can also accelerate on the 8' hearth rug and slam it into the kitchen while leaping to the ottoman and onto my lap. Since she loves the pool, we're thinking about trying her out on dock diving. Gotta spend some of that boundless energy.

Probably the most amazing cow dog trick I've seen was many years ago. An Aussie bluey named Cricket could jump through the open windows of a pick up--while the pick up was going about twenty MPH. I mean through. He never touched any part of the rig or the people inside.

Moved the cab from the Annex to the driveway, with the intention of mounting it on the frame to measure engine and transmission clearance and start working on brake pedal mounting, steering column etc etc etc ….
The cab sat outside on its dolly in the snow for 6 weeks but tonight it got moved (rain was in forecast And I didn’t want it to get wet) and mounted.
The board method of hoisting was way better than removing with straps and ropes. I am sure it will be off and on 10 more times yet
Fired up now with this little bit of activity …..

And then I tuned up my new to me belt and disc sander, it was a throw away from the high school so it had a tough life. The band saw was an auction purchase 2 years ago and it has been in storage till now. Going to be a handy piece, more handy with a metal blade in it. Yes the garage floor is wet as each spring I get water coming in the corner. Need to be more proactive on moving snow from that corner.

More cleaning and reduced a huge 3 ring binder to 4 smaller ones-new labels installed and ready to use. Then took another stab at lowering the idle on the ford 2000 tractor, and after getting over the fear of screwing something up further I turned the governor rod inboard 7 turns, refired and it settled in at about 625, we're golden(at least for the moment). Then onto the adjusting the brakes, they go too
far to the footboard for my liking, Started with a liberal dose of pb blaster, got some of it freed up. Adjusted the left brake inboard 6 turns, right won't budge, more heat and pb, still nothing. Left it sit overnight.

That makes sense. A good friend was a BMW tech, then Service Mgr in a large dealership group before retiring. He opened a shop that caters just to European / German cars. 90% of all his business are return customers (who've know him for years) and most of his business is scheduled maintenance. A while back a co worker was looking at a new Audi car not too long ago, I reached out to my friend for his advice.

"IF he doesn't work on his own stuff, tell him to lease it with the full warranty / maintenance included. That's the best advice I can give."

A good friend of mine is a BMW guy to the core. The guy he takes his stuff to (who's now retiring) also says "I wouldn't buy any current BMW unless it has a full warranty, and I'd sell it before the warranty is up". He also says leasing is the way to go on the all the German stuff.
