1 amp I'm sure there is. 5 amp? I'd like to see that. A standard headlight doesn't even pull that much at 12v.

I just have various lights/heaters/solenoids/etc that I have turned into tools to load test circuits. Math it out or use an amp clamp to figure out what it draws and write it on said item with a paint marker.

I really don't know of any tools you can buy that will put a very big load on a circuit. Haven't looked I guess. Wouldn't buy one anyway when I already have a drawer full of homemade ones  No need to be fancy with that stuff in my opinion.

(800mA when you press load button)

I have an old halogen fog lamp out of a Nissan with a buzzer and hanging hook that pulls around 5amps (great for fuel pump wiring/finding dead shorts etc.)

Can someone tell me why we're doing this?
Zim

It just speeds up testing mostly, I have a selection of different loads for various circuit testing tasks that I occasionally use if I suspect/know the actual component is bad (or missing altogether) and can't use it to confirm supply and ground.

Mostly though I use my 5 amp load for situations where I am alone and want to operate the starter motor/ignition switch to see if the starter solenoid or fuel pump is getting a good feed/ground, it will light up bright and make a loud noise under the car.

The Lisle test light is just for convenience, if it displays voltage just hit the button and will load the wire (very useful at fuse/relay panels)

I was working on a Payloader, no headlights or park lights. I unhooked the headlights and park lights worked fine. hook up a headlight , nothing now worked again. It was getting voltage, but not enough amps. Problem was there was like one strand of wire left where the payloader articulates.

I'm just generalizing. Typical 55 watt headlight. Doesn't really matter for the purpose of this thread.
You said you would like to see it. A 9004 is 65w on high/45w on low. They can be had on RockAuto for about $1.50.

I was stating(in a doubtful manner) that I would like to see a standard style automotive test light that pulls 5 amps since it would be the size of a ******* headlight. Just like you I also know there are headlights can pull more or less than 5 amps so I guess we are both right and both wrong. Happy????
