My guru also suggested I get a small sanding block for my upcoming project, as in:

IMG_8409.jpeg

Luckily, the neighbors have some little kids I can unload erasers #2 and 3 someday soon. (Do children still use pencils at home, at least? I'll make sure to regale them with tales of clapping chalk erasers....)

If you are going to tell them about clapping chalk erasers.
Maybe you can explain to them the odor of a fresh Ditto sheet.

I will post a new tool later to make up for this distraction.

I tried out the new Milton EZ Lock QR air chuck yesterday:

55201475344_a3e74a3497_o.jpg

I dropped that tire to 10 psi and aired it up to 32. The inflator just chugged right along with never a pause.

It gets a passing score--for 1/8 the price of the Lock N Flate.

I still have a spare if anyone is passing through....

Oops. Double-post.

Amazon delivered another new toy this afternoon, a Vessel 400ER3

I2tiV5S.jpg

Ya know, this gets some hate on social media, but I don't think it's bad for what it is. It's low powered but If found it useful for light hardware in engine bays and interiors.

Rumors about a possible forward/reverse designs coming next (without the need to flip it over).

I just did the same job on an X3 chasing an evap error. Aren't they so much fun to work on?
It is a process and I try to not compare work that I did 4+ decades ago to today's repairs. However, the early 60's man in me sometimes has me wishing for simpler times, but, my active brain likes the challenge and learning new things. I just wonder when the intersection of a declining body and mind will hit me and cause me to say, "no I am not doing that anymore". Of course I will fight the good fight for as long as possible.

I mentioned earlier I liked this $13 work light from Aldi's. So in order to keep up with the required Garage Journal purchasing procedures, I bought 2 more.

That is exactly what I got it for. I like it's compact size.

Can't wait to see what you ordered that necessitated a pre-emptive gift purchase for your wife!

Mike
I had ordered a shallow 3/8" socket... needed a 3/8" deep well...both 1/4" drive. I put the one I needed in my Jungle cart. The wife ordered some lights for her grapevine tree, so she placed the order.

Couple Knick knacks to see what works or doesn’t.

Off the wall flex head hex rat. I’m looking for something to go in my wera kits and the dimensions fit the bill. The actions a bit rough but maybe it’ll lube up. It’s only for back up on the rare occasions I can’t get enough torque from the screwdriver handle.
IMG_7931.jpegIMG_7933.jpegIMG_7935.jpeg

And while searching for some long security torx drivers I came upon this set which advertised being S2 steel with a machined tip and impact rated. All that for low-low price of $16….i hope nobody minds if I don’t hold my breath. **** ya never know right?

IMG_7936.jpegIMG_7937.jpeg

And yesterday I saw one of us posted this GW. For $20 I figured I’d give it a shot.

After checking it out I realized I made a HUGE MISTAKE..🤬

I should have bought two so I could use them as chopsticks at the local gas station sushi bar 😎

Well it’s pretty damn petite for a breaker bar and ya I’d agree it sure wouldn’t be my go to as a daily. Picture don’t do the length justice so I suppose it’ll just become one of those “ya never know” tools.

Or I could buy another one and take the wife out for a spicy tuna roll 😋

Well I bought a set of Duratech slim open end wrenches and they wound up missing the one size I actually needed, 15mm. I subsequently filled that void with a single Capri wrench. Maybe should have bought a set of Capris instead.
IMG_2337.jpeg

The Capri is a long pattern wrench in comparison. Without using them they seem to be of similar quality and it fits in the wrench roll.

I was also drinking the other day and bought a Tone 3/8" driver handle simply because I didn't have one. Amazon is dangerous when you're intoxicated.

Some more goodies from Japan...

Ratcheting 1/4" Hex tools... Vessel ratcheting T-handle, Vessel ratcheting stubby with flexible shaft, Anex ratcheting ball grip, and a set of longer Sunflag bits! Impressed with all of them!

Also picked up another Tsunoda, also super nice!!! Love well priced, super high quality Japanese tools, especially when I can order them from Amazon US and they get delivered in a day or two with no customs surprises!

Also my new Tsunoda video for those that want a closer look.... And those that don't, please just scroll on by!

That Geinxurn stuff ain't half bad considering the price... I don't have that exact tool, but several others I got for dirt cheap on Amazon.

I won't get into a debate, but you are going to need to strip that to bare metal again and then treat it with something like Metal Prep by Por 15. And then sand it off and go forward.

You can sand off the rust, but it's almost always going to come back- you need to chemically kill it.

I will when I'm ready to strip and paint the whole shell, I just wanted to stop the rust and get some protection on there for now until I'm done with teardown.

Has anyone used these $16 Tsunoda / JDM flush cutters? That seems like a pretty good price !

I don't have those exact ones, but two different Tsunoda zip tie cutters, both are superb and as nice as most twice their price.

I like this one best...

I also have these, also superb, though more expensive. the TG grips are nice...
