can't remember but do remember the frustration of the sales team when we went looking for one.........
apparently getting up and heading off to the next option almost before you've sat down in the first one isn't the done thing
sales people would descend only to find I'd already moved on :D
Maybe a power nap in each one before purchasing
I think I’m gonna enjoy the search.

I kinda miss my old leather recliner that actually ended up breaking with me in it but after trying out what was new to purchase I ended up buying a foam filled LoveSac sort of like the old 70’s bean bags we used to jump into.

I’m still hoping to find a good quality recliner after a few years of using my lovesac but if it gets kinda droopy the company sends me a new bag of foam scraps to pump it up.

Just love all your facts about tv shows and areas of your country. In fact on our tv Samsung has a free service and our default station plays midsomer murders 24/7 that also has the same midsomer commercial running about every 15 minutes or so.

We just watched a couple of old doc martin reruns a while back and still would like to visit port Isaac

Best of luck with mcfloaty and finishing up the remaining jobs so you can officially have 6 Saturdays and a Sunday each week.

We’re still talking about comfy chairs, yes !
Just checking.

To many channels I think , and you’re correct some things are just on a permanent loop 24/7.

Mcfloaty is coming along nicely thanks, I think I’m just down for some dry walling and painting.

I can see it now, comfy slippers and a pint in hand - "I'll test this one, come back when the pint's gone or I start snoring" :ROFLMAO:

although may be you'll also need to ask if it floats to make delivery easier

Wifey wants Mcfloaty to be a holiday rental, I can see myself blasting up there to do the housekeeping before the next holiday makers turn up.
Maybe we need an Ed China special

Made a rare visit to a pub last night
The Dickens Inn , St Katherine’s Dock
IMG_2087.jpeg
IMG_2086.jpeg
Met up with Johnnie @NakeDiesel
A great catchup and meal, gifts were exchanged
Mine
IMG_2089.jpeg
While Johnnie received a make it yourself hot beverage in a London centric box for his wife.

We left about 9 with the pub probably open for another hour and this was directly outside.

Glad you like the little Rt 66 plaque. I liked it since it had the old OK plate shield on it. Much better plate design that the twitter bird they came out with a few years ago or the new red plate they have now.

Steve, I suspected mine had a weird sense of humor but turns out I have actual photographic proof. I thought our wedding day was delightful -- she was plotting revenge.
Reception 2 800.jpg
Cute kids.
Snap I throughly enjoyed the day, we had a marquee in the garden and the sun shone, nothing more to ask for.
You’ll note I had not a single grey hair. Plotting her revenge indeed.

Sitting in front of the two “beach huts” I made at the bottom of the garden. His and theirs.

Where were we. Oh yes, we have heat and light in most rooms at Mcfloaty
The kitchen is in and functional, it’s like a different house.

What’s missing from this picture ^^

Put the Oak front door in over the Easter weekend
This came out
IMG_2113.jpeg
This went in
IMG_2116.jpeg
IMG_2118.jpeg
The old door frame was part of the stud work, so that all had to be reworked before the new frame could go in. All fun and games.

What’s missing is a window to the left of the doors🙄 not my idea. I’d be happier knocking a hole in a
brick wall, but cutting a hole in a timber building, how hard can it be ? 🤣

Or make a huge French door or sliding glass wall to take advantage of the water views and bring that rare sunshine into mcfloaty.

Nice work on the oak front door that looks a bit small to me but probably closer to standard for your area. If I recall correctly our standard front door is 80 x 36.

Keep up the great work cause I know you’d rather work on your own stuff in retirement.

Hi Drives
Floaty is an original 1930’s bungalow so no full glass doors for us, keeping it as traditional as possible with the Georgian windows and green and cream exterior colours.

Ha, new door is bigger than the original it’s now a massive 27” x 73”. You can get away with a shorter door if there is a step down outside. 👍

The end date is in sight, end of may, we’re aiming for.

All the unit making machines have gone along with the stock of glass.
We’ve filled 3 skips with stuff we should have thrown years ago.
And most things are now in an online auction

Have you ever found your dads collection of
**** at the back of an old cupboard or bottom of a filing cabinet, when emptying out his things.
I did, his favourite mag. He had them stashed all over the place
IMG_2126.jpeg
His favourite hot phone line was to a bloke called Barry. Barry Irons machinery, page 3. I think 75% of our kit was bought from this guy.
IMG_2128.jpeg

How time flies, he’s been gone ten years now, Dad not Barry.

No staff anymore. Just me and my brother, and he left for about ten years and only came back 2021/22 ish.
We had 12/13 staff for many years but since the downturn in 2008 I’ve found I can make good money manufacturing bespoke one off items that many local guys won’t touch and tapped into a better paying market. Clients happy to pay more for a superior product.
Selling the workshop was always the pension for retirement.

Local pick-up adds some difficulty, but my brother and sister inlaw are in London currently. I wonder if the widebelt would fit as a checked bag?

And a lot less headaches being the only worker. You can solve lots of problems immediately.

Friend of mine used to own and run several trucks for a fire extinguisher business.
When he dropped back to himself, one truck and a helper his problems dropped drastically. Much easier now.

Surprisingly some of them actually are.
Over the years we’ve cultivated some long term relationships with clients who have plenty of rentals or buy at auction and renovate, they always knew it only took a call and we would be off and running.

Yeah, possibly over the 23kg baggage allowance.
I think the front roller weights in at 2cwt.

Hope the family have a great time, I’m sure they will, and safe travels.

Ain’t that the truth.
No one to blame but all the credit is yours.

As we’re boringly sensible when the going was good we paid off the mortgage, bought rentals and never had credit. Consequently going down the bespoke higher value work, I could earn enough on my own, seemed to work just fine.
