I was expecting that box to hold hex shank bits Don, not round.
I miss K-martWent out this morning to snag this Gem. This is a pretty sweet set made in Japan. I use to crack on these back when they came out, but honestly, these are very nice. By weight alone, you can feel it isn’t the ultra cheap **** you got years later. Ten Dollar Bill, and worth every penny ….. K-Mart Auto….

+1 on that. When I acquired my 1st car in the late 70's, K-mart was my tool supplier. I bought Irwin screw drivers, metric combination wrenches (Taiwan), and others for reasonable prices and the quality was really good. It was all Japan or Taiwan made. I find most stuff made in that time period from those countries was quality made stuff.I miss K-mart
100%…. They had everything. The Auto section rocked back then.I miss K-mart
They are both marked crossman. I got them to resell, but I think I'm going to keep them. The .45 is a Marksman, and the other is a Heathways Plainsman.
Good score!

More…Been an extremely busy few weeks picking stuff. Hit up a Garage sale last Sat and it was loaded. Family cleaning out Dads tools and everything was in flats priced at $5 -$7 . The Union protractor & blade were $2, the Starrett feelers were a buck as well as the Craftsman thread cleaners. The little black box full of ignition tools was another $2.. After sorting and cleaning I put together a few sets and had plenty of other partial sets. Cornwell 1/2 deeps, Wright 3/8 drive, Tru- Test metric set, Action 77 1/2 drive, Craftsman bit set w/ 3 Clutch…. Other groups of Bonney, Plomb, Easco, Firestone, JC Penney, Thorson, New Brittan. Next stop was a pick up of a Mitutoyo 0-1 for $10… then today I found another sale and packaged three calipers for $6 ea. The 500-216 Mitutoyos needed a battery….The verniers are very nice and the Japan Peacocks aren't bad… Enjoy!

And more…

It’s a honey hole for sure. This was my second visit. First was back in the fall. They keep cleaning out the hoard and setting up sales. First haul was a boat load of Proto. I just missed a killer Blackhawk chest that went out west. The seller was surprised someone would pay 5 times the cost to ship it….I’d have probably paid more… lol. This fall there will be more.***** - if only for Volume alone!![]()
Check with lapidary suppliers like Kingsly North for disks that can be modified. My finds yesterday, one TOO, one planned stop. The TOO was a guy who built the front entertainment area on front of his house, so guessing contractor, moving to Australia. So lots of big 120v tools, two roto hammers, a sawzall, ShopVac, etc. that will do him no good down under. Grabbed a WorkSharp 3000, made in 2020. Just the motor and glass disk w two different abrasive grits. All parts are retired, so will need to improvise.
The planned was a charity rummage sale, had been decent in the past. Found a mixed set of socket rails, for the price I was pleased with the two plastic ones. Other goodies for the house took up many times what I spent there.

How much. I see at least one metric Snap-on socket and one Snap-on wobble extension. I also see one of those weird Craftsman ratchet with the knob.Between the time of fixing dinner and eating dinner an ad popped up on FBM. I couldn't resist, whats a little more sorting and cleaning and stacking in an overflowing garage.

You ****!!!Ok yesterday's seller contacted me that he had another box to sell. I met with him today and picked it up. The second(white) box was a FBMP buy from a couple downsizing into a condo. I'm still sorting yesterday's purchases and now the truck is full again.

I forgot about a TOO in Novato, down the street from the family estate sale. There were two tools on a table, both large combos. One was Chinesium and the other was this new looking 1” 44705 combo. It still had traces of the original label which I removed yesterday. We headed to San Leandro this morning to a sale put on by a favorite estate sale company, the Tie Dye people. Great people but unfortunately no tools to speak of. After looking thoroughly we found some nice little Visegrips and an empty DeWalt drill bit set box.
After that disappointing experience we headed across the San Rafael bridge to a family run living estate sale in Novato. The greeter at that sale was the owner’s 22 yr old Chihuahua, definitely a senior citizen in dog years. Sorry, no pictures. We did find a few tools though.I liked the Snap-on screwdriver although the warning on the handle had been ignored.
The tin snips were Powr-Kraft, decent Channellocks and some additions to my Rosco screwdriver collection.
Cleaned up the Rosco drivers.
Added some of the bits from yesterday’s sale and finished filling the DeWalt box from my sharpened spares.-Don
