Milwaukee 2763-20 1/2" impact issues w/ trigger?

I keep an extra 1/2" impact in my truck, a Milwaukee 2763-20 that I've had the last couple of years. I'd picked it up cheap from one of the local pawn shops, and is in pretty decent shape. I've only used it a handful of times, but never noticed any issues...until today. Had a blow-out on an equipment trailer hauling a tractor earlier, and had no issues until I grabbed the Milwaukee. At first, depressing the trigger did nothing. I thought the battery was dead, but it did the same thing with multiple batteries. Finally got to spin a few times, but only intermittently. Banged it around a little, and *finally* got it to remove all six lug nuts..but it didn't seem happy. What's really odd, it flat out wouldn't work upside down or at any kind of angle *except* straight up and down.

Seems like a simple trigger issue, but I have no idea...I've never taken one apart, so I am not sure what to expect when I start tearing it down. Anyone else had a similar issue?

The Milwaukee trigger issue is well known and common. I had the same on my 1/2 impact and my circular saw. In both cases the tool was new enough to be under warranty. In the case of the Impact wrench the one they sent me back was refurbished and was clearly not as new as the one I sent in. I really think this should have been a recall situation. Very disappointing from Milwaukee.

The good news is that there are several youtube videos on replacing the trigger and the parts are readily order-able. Not too hard to fix DIY.

Sounds like the trigger switch. I've had a couple M18 and M12 tools that switch went bad. Two M12 hex drivers, an M18 hex driver, a 9" cut off saw, and think another one. The first time I didn't think it was the switch because it will start to go and then cut off almost right away. I would have thought the switch would be some what of a go/no go type of thing. Like with my 9" cut off saw I pull the trigger and blade starts to spin and then dies. Think most of them started off intermittently doing it and then working good and then gets to the point it does it every time. Pretty common issue with Milwaukee for some reason if you google it.

I just googled parts for that and looks like the switch is only sold as "electronics assembly" for over 200 bucks. Seems odd and maybe can find just the switch somewhere and wire it in. Seems stupid to not sell a simple switch for 20-30 bucks and make you buy the whole guts.

I've had trigger issues on M18 Milwaukees after working in alot of dust (both saw dust and drywall). Opened up the case/handle and blew it out worked at least two times that I recall. Not sure if that would cause problems you're describing or not but I'd at least try to blow some compressed air near trigger to see if it helps resolve problem.

I'm going to have to try that on mine when I get some time.

Problem is, I hate just throwing parts at it without actually knowing whether its *just* the trigger or not...

Within a two week span the triggers failed on my sawzall, hole hawg, and lastly, impact wrench. Being the genius that I am, I tossed the impact in the trash and bought the HF Bauer "high torque". The Bauer worked fine for lawn mower blades but wouldn't take the lug nuts off my Jeep that are torqued to 100. I decided to buy another Milwaukee but couldn't decided between the high torque and mid torque so I bought them both.

Milwaukee triggers seem to be a known & common issue according to a you tube tool repair channel that I watch. and for the most part, I don't they don't come separate anymore . they have the trigger, control board & field as an assembly which is close to the cost of a new unit
