Found these at a local TOO yesterday. IMG_0210.jpeg
They came out of the evaporust today. The original paint resisted removal on the handles. IMG_7897.jpegIMG_7898.jpeg
I decided to give up removing the paint and repainted the handle area. I’ll see how they came out tomorrow. IMG_7916.jpeg

942 6 inch diagonal cutting pliers. Nice feel. The polished head and gun metal handles have good longevity it seems from the many examples.

Warning, going to go full nerd on you here! Lol
Having used my fair share of fence pliers back in the day, those plier jaws intrigue me. Every other pair I’ve used are ground to a single point for grabbing a staple to pull it, but these seem to have a square nose and two pinchy bits for grabbing staples with one corner or the other. Hard to describe but that might actually be quite a useful feature.
The pulling claw looks excellent, many of the newer ones are too big and clunky to get under a staple properly, but that one is nice and pointy and rounded, like an anvil.
The wire cutters, as is the case on a lot of the older fence pliers, are likely not a deep enough slot to cut two (twisted) strands of barbed-wire at once. Kind of a pain cutting each strand separately.
And finally the hammer head (as most of them are) is kind of undersized, but surprisingly the side face of the pliers do not appear to have been used as a hammer, as is so often the case.
(Also, that knurling on the handle is beautiful!)
