How often do you reorganize drawers in your toolbox? If you get a new tool (s) do you have growth space for them or do you have to reorganize to make new space? Or do you get bored or see a new idea for organizing and redo based on that?
Myself, I had my ratchet drawer full of my Snap-On and Koken 1/4" and 3/8" ratchets. In the last two weeks I've purchased a 1/2" SO hard handle and two SO industrial ratchets and I wanted to consolidate and make an all Snap-On drawer. I moved the Koken and put them in another drawer with space available. Here is the newly reorganized all Snap-On ratchet drawer. Before anyone comments, this drawer is temporary pending a new box with dedicated organizers.

That's quite the collection of ratchets. I see more than a few that could do double duty, but then you wouldn't have an excuse for a larger box.
I like redundancy. You never know when a ratchet will go down in the middle of a project.

I don't reorganize my drawers. My wife puts my drawers in the drawer, and I take them out. After I wear them, I put them in the dirty laundry drawer, and my wife takes them out, washes them, and puts them into the dryer. She then takes them out of the dryer, folds them, and puts them back in the drawer. :)

Most definitely. Are the ones you're using for projects in another drawer? Bet that one is sweet 🔥
I feel like I haven't bought enough new tools in years to justify a new layout, so just when I'm bored or see a way it could be improved upon.

I am at a loss of what to say, especially when I look at my ratchet "collection" of three 3/8" and one 1/2" rachets!

I guess we will just have to add this to the list of tool collectors, along with the hammer and screw driver guys!

I shuffle when I purchase larger sets or when I cull tools. Core layouts tend to stick around while new tools go through a few trial locations based on use case and frequency of need before finding a semi permanent spot. Of course the whole song and dance is replayed when new tools inevitably find their way to the shopping cart. Usually a bit of mix-up also happens when I find new storage solutions or organizers. Attached some photos of my top drawer progression over the last few years.

Yeah, those all look worked to death.
Just curious why so many of you have what seems like jealousy/envy to those of us with extensive tool collections? Is it we have them in the first place or have them while not being a professional mechanic? I can easily afford them (sorry if you can't) and I don't have to justify my purchases or their use to anyone, especially on this forum, so why can't you just enjoy looking at some cool tools without the vitriol and sarcastic comments?

I don't covet anything of yours and am frankly unimpressed but I do find your drawer full of orange ratchets........... amusing.

Half my tools at the house are on top of my toolbox. They are there because I am perpetually working on the layout of my home boxes. Craftsman boxes aren’t very deep nor do they have a lot of drawers so it’s a constant pain trying to get everything to fit.

At work I think I reorganize my drawers only when I’m dumping or adding tools. There’s just not enough time in between projects and work orders to play around in my box.

I mean I think the answer is quite obvious. Tools aren't complex or really unique, they're made to build and fix things.

Here's some examples, I can try to explain I guess since you asked.

If I collect guns, but I've not shot them, whats the point? Am I a competitive shooter?
If I collect cars, but I've not driven them, whats the point? Am I a skilled driver?
If i collect books but I don't read them, whats the point? Am I well read?

At least with the above 3 examples there is surely some rare and collectable pieces, and their lack of use could be argued.
Collecting tools that are not complex, unique, and then joining a forum to discuss them and imply use is rather strange.
Why not just accept you're collecting tools and stop telling people you're using them? Probably would be met with less sarcasm.

First, I don't mind what you do, and am not taking a side here.

With any kind of equipment, machine, vehicle etc., absurd situations or decisions (actual or perceived) can provoke people to varying degrees.

Someone is collecting something which I have no appreciation for beyond its utility. That guy over there collecting computer mice.

Someone has a super thing which I also have, but their use would be served just as good by something much more basic, whereas my job warrants having the advanced one. That guy who is too dumb to realise he doesn't need the same high end laser level as me to tile his bathroom. But maybe he's not actually dumb, and just appreciates the engineering that went into that advanced tool - but I don't know that.

Someone has a super thing they don't really need, which would make my job a hell of a lot easier, but I don't have one. Because I can't afford it, can't justify it, or my boss won't buy one for the team. There's some kind of perceived misallocation of resources here. The thing was made for people like me, but that dentist over there has it in his garage and uses it twice a year.

Note "I" here is not me - just for sake of writing.

I’ve never considered sorting my ratchets by brand.

Jealousy? Envy? 🤣
Concern perhaps of possible mental issues? 🤣
I used to make money with my tools and have never felt the need to have multiple sets of screw drivers or a dozen hammers or 30-plus ratchets. It isn't jealousy or envy because I could easily drop a boatload of money in tools, but don't feel the need, or understand it.

I buy tools as need them, and only as many as I need.

I collect guns too and I'm a competitive shooter. Why do you deny that I don't use them? It is because I actually care for them and keep them in pristine condition?

I reorganize when I run out of room in the drawers. Then I purge what I don't need/haven't ever used, organize the drawers and the cycle begins anew...
That is basically what I have always done.
Some times I would even move stuff around to plan for future purchases off the tool truck.

OP I could instantly tell it was a new picture just because the Kokens were missing.
You wouldnt have to worry that much with organization with a box that has full width to wider than usual top drawers IMO
I sold my Snap On box during covid while we were moving to reduce weight in our POD. I didn't think I would miss it but I really do miss the full width drawers for my or organization preferences.
The replacement box only has one full width drawer and it drives me nuts having some other stuff scattered in smaller drawers.
So I will be replacing it with another SnapOn box before the end of the year.
You should ask your dealer about when the Rock N' Roll Express is coming to your area. That is when there is good deals on brand new boxes allowing you to order what ever color box and options you want.

Dude just stop already...you post the same over and over... Then start with the jealousy routine.

It's become nothing more than trolling and starting drama.

I don’t understand why you constantly give these fires fuel. Contribute and move on. Ignore the retractors.

The reason people constantly take digs at you is because you seem to be constantly looking to argue about it. Yesterday, you posted one of these images on a 5 year old thread as if hoping to spark another comment.

The people giving you **** are ridiculous and have too much time on their hands, but you aren’t helping.
