Always got **** spinning around in my head.

Have you used or got a friend who has used these?

My memory seems to be that they look super gash and floppy.

But I have been wrong before.

At £60.00 for a set, they are not high risk, but I would not walk down the street and drop ££60.00 or $80.00 on the sidewalk for someone else to pick up and go buy burgers with.

Make sense??

I was just wondering if they would suit the look of the Oldsmobile now.

Oh, no I have not asked AI to generate anything.

.

my memory is terrible but that chimes with my what I can dredge up too...........quite an apt description in fact

I just asked the AI

Resulting in this image.

Bit gangster and gold chains and teeth

Thanks for remind me of the the little Canta that could (well, it could create and had more issues than a car five times it size ;) ). But never the less you left it in a lot better shape than when you found it.

Those are Port-a-walls, and no don't waste your money. On low profile tyres they will never sit flat against the sidewall, and will look like rubbish. Those went away here in the 60s and good riddance. Rub just one curb and they are trashed, and they flop around at speed. Nothing good to say about them. There are companies here in the states that will make whitewall tires for classic cars Coker being one:https://cokertire.com/tires/styles/whitewall-tires.html I don't know about the UK or Europe, but likely.

Here are my 50 öre (2 cents after inflation)

I don't believe those will add anything to the car, actually they will subtract from the experience. I would not mind them on a 30-40 year older car

Your picture in the later post made me sad

Glen and his son Finlay got it even better and a fresh MOT.

After which it went to a Polish Micro car museum.

Went for a drive in tbe Olds.

I am really enjoying it.

Popped in at a guy who drag races a Trabant wagon with a 3.5 V8 in.

I got Completely distracted by the rest of his barn.

Pics for you all.

Also took some pics of the Oldsmobile again.

I will have to be brutally honest, the Poles seem to be fond of a lot of turds such as Polska, one of which I believe resides in the same museum. Personally, I am not sure if belonging to this museum is an honor :)!

Nevertheless the Wheeler Dealers did an episode on this turd but through out the show they kept snickering about it.

And this is Tony’s 3.5 V8 Trabant wagon.

It really is very small

.
Oh yeah, then there was the “Trabi”. This car was way ahead of its time in many respects!

To start with, it used very little gas ! But this was not due to the fact that it had only 26hp, but rather because it mainly ran on oil!

Its safety feature was legendary for performing miracles! No, it did not have modern features such as ABS, traction control, airbags, collision avoidance, etc. It did not even have seat belts in the rear! However, it could covert even the most ardent godless communists to God fearing religious people when they were among the very few who had by some miracle and divine intervention survived an accident. And as a further bonus this feature kept the population growth in check.

Hopefully helpful regardless of what vehicle you are trying to tidy up 😉

Started “restoring” the interior of my 1992 Oldsmobile 88.

Rotten C Pillar caps first.

Video guidance:

When I bought the car, one was in the trunk/boot and the other, looking rather sad, still attached to the inside of the car.

With a multitude of jobs now done or in progress, I had some time last week to start on the interior changes that were not planned, but certainly have presented themselves since 27 December when I bought the car.

So part two was fitting the pieces back in the car.

I also decided to try out the rear parcel shelf for a colour/color change.

This will be redone when I am in a full dismantling mood.

But I like it.

Also realised the upholstery inside could be addressed.

Can of worms??

This is PART TWO of the recovering.

Now I need to find someone locally who owns an industrial sewing machine that will let me use it to make up some seat covers.

Yup……

I want to give that a try.

Happy that I followed my own mind with the tyres here.
Usually it’s a pretty suspect

But the tyres have improved the look and ride hugely.

Yesterday I also added my hand made center caps

Firstly I added high density foam inside the center cap recesses then used Sikaflex type clear adhesive and masking tape to position them.

Left them 18 hours and removed the tape

Then took a 70 mile drive to visit mate Darren.

More pics of that little excursion later

And today the tape came off.

I am certainly enjoying the look it has created

You've done well with the paintwork and making up the centre caps. A bit of lateral thinking and a can do attitude goes a long way; also provides a good story to tell with the car - cant see many people spinning their own centres at a meet..
Perhaps not my cup of tea but can appreciate the efforts you have went and I think on the whole you've turned a car that was otherwise neglected - and perhaps overlooked?- into something that will be/is a real headturner. In many respects you've perhaps saved the car.

Re. the interior, my parents have owned a trim shop for 50 years, if you've got any questions fire me a message and I'll assist if I can. I think you should be able to cover the back seat reasonably straightforwardly but the front seats will require a bit of work- all doable ofcourse.

Thank you.

That’s really helpful.

I think a machine is probably paramount in this case.

Whitewall tyres might have been ok with the steel wheels, if you also had chrome hub caps, but totally wrong with your alloys. Which suit the car great btw.

Yes

New tires/tyres made a huge improvement, IMHO.

I think so too.

I like the centers, came out good!

Thank you.

100 miles and mostly motorway driving later…

Still there.

Followers of my random travels and activities will remember this car, 1934 Ford that I traveled 500 miles to collect in a cash deal for Dennis, only to realise after a shop tour and lunch with the seller, that the cash was still in Dennis’ workshop.

But we got it all sorted in the end.

So a 1000 miler, followed two days later by Dennis and I running 400 miles up to Kansas again and dinner in Nebraska, 180 miles back to near Kansas City and off to Pete and Jakes the next morning to order a bunch of parts for his impending build, once the Chevelle was completed.

Current status.

Note the reflection in the fender paint

The rest will be done to the same standard

It is always good to see that you are wearing your required South African invisible steel toe puncture-resistant midsole safety flip flops:) !

Great paint/stain job on the chairs!

Chairs are just pressure washed.

I learned my lesson years ago.

I don’t paint or stain furniture.

No, note even going to explain

Great job!

👍

NIce try at fooling us Grizz. Pretty sure the "after" pic is not the same deck. Impossible. I wasn't born yesterday !

All jokes aside , that looks AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you.

What’s really interesting is that one’s eye gets used to it degenerating over time.

So you don’t see how bad it gets.

Then a side by side photo shows how bad it was.

The deck got two full, heavy and wet coats.

The second coat really makes a difference. I suspect a third would bring a satin sheen as it starts drying over the top of surfaces.

I painted the tailgate bench three coats too.

Inner circles, Random Kindness, Super Surprises.

Often things happen to me that I honestly don’t know how or why. But I am always thankful.

Yesterday I was really focused on getting the deck and tailgate bench painted. So phones stayed indoors. I also had the doors closed on the deck, so never heard the doorbell.

Fortunately my new second room lodger was here, recovering from a hangover and having slept outside in the Astro van, he claims to have no idea how he lost his keys (left in the front door) I believe he is going to be a problem. And you guys can hold off with your advice, I will have to deal with it in my own way. Regardless.

Anyway, he received a large postal item.

I was not expecting anything, so when I saw it on the table, I initially ignored it, then was going to put it in Pedros room, and realised it was addressed to me.

Opened it up and once again……

Kindness, thoughtfulness and respect popped out the envelope.

A bunch of stuff, possibly even the sender didn’t realise thr impact of.

@Da1sycat Bryan was travelling in the USA recently and gathered some stuff for me.
He also made some perfectly timed keyrings (all three are already in use on Astro, Oldsmobile, House keys) and unbeknown to him, Spartans have a significant link to my dad, long since departed, but I always associate Spartans with him.
He also bought me a Rural King T shirt and again, my favourite shop in the USA. I bought two last year and gave Pedro the best one, and the other that is too small for me, headed in a different direction.

Some Stars n Stripes bandanas will probably be headrest covers in the Oldsmobile.

Lastly, some more of his artwork. Which of course I really like.

The garage sign is too good for the garage, so into my overfull display cabinet.

Life is good.

Often it just falls in our laps, sometimes we need to open our eyes and see the great stuff around us.
