I went to get street numbers for a sale that starts at 10. On my way home, I saw a sign for a garage sale a couple streets from my house. Went home, had coffee and then went to the garage sale. I found a set of four Durham type boxes with the frame and ball bearing slides and a partial set of Craftsmam forged (not stamped) ignition wrenches. &11.

The estate sale, that I got numbers for, starts in 25 minutes.

The estate sale had a ton of stuff. There was not much that I was interested in, and less at the prices they had on what I wanted.

I bought a pair of Vacuum Grip pliers that I will unlikely ever use. Maybe I will gift them to someone who has vintage Indian motorcycles at some point. They are valve cover pliers. $2.IMG_5814.jpeg

I can sympathize, - I could never get over the plastic smell of the Vietnam era canteens - much less the taste of the water.
Don't worry nothing has changed about those canteens since then! Luckily now they issue you a "camel back" canteen which imo was a ***** to clean. The few guys that still carry the old style canteens into the field usually piss in them..

Estate sale ($40): Thompson water seal (nib); Cabela's waterfowl waist pack; JVC FS-5000 stereo player; Duracell batteries; Daisy 880 bb gun (1984-87) w/ Weaver D4 scope; Apple wireless keyboard.

Lot's of estate sales, but not much of interest. Hopefully, things will pick up week, not that I'm complaining about the 880 and scope.

Two FBMP pick ups today. Thankfully much easier to inventory and photograph than the last two. Bora Centipede 4x4 table. I have the 4x8 version, these are great in my work life. 2nd ad yielded the 2 drawer red/gray , Craftsman mid box minus key.

The 880 is the single-pump pneunatic? I had the pistol version many years ago--1980. It bagged a lot of cottontail for the stewpot while doing a head job on a 318 in a '62 D100 in a campground in Moab.

Saw a decent looking ES in the "city" north of me, so me and the little dog went up to the nearest dog park, and then swung over to the sale

A lot of good vintage American iron in the second (!) two car garage, with a corresponding amount of shoppers. But, I persevered, and found an Xcelite nut driver rack, three Indestro polygon wrenches from the '30s, a vial of drill points for push drills, two socket chisels (one marked USN, the other Stanley Handyman), Winchester screwdriver (repurposed tip), and a partial Plomb socket set (all extras are good also). Not too shabby for $10, and I am really excited about the Xcelite rack. I may need to hunt down a full set, and switch out my Proto nut drivers (which are made by Xcelite).

Earthwise visit today:

Kobalt 4-drawer top chest 042326 01.jpgKobalt 4-drawer top chest 042326 02.jpg
Kobalt 4-drawer top chest.
Kind of dirty. The rail holding the bottom drawer has come unbuttoned from the inside of the box at the rear. Not sure what's going on there. Hopefully it will be repairable. In order to carry it through the house through the front door I had to carry it vertically and it started making a lot of rattling noises.
So I took it out back and rolled it around and managed to extract both of the previous owner's 10mm sockets (one shallow, one deep) and a few other items:
new arrivals 042326 01.jpg
I was unaware until this afternoon that they are manufacturing sockets in Malaysia, of all places. No branding, however.

I picked up a couple other items as well - I grabbed that Ideal 35-781 "Nickless" cable cutting tool I saw Monday, and a "Speedex" wire stripper (patent 2313793). Probably paid too much for it. I'll make it up on the box. (y)

Only one sale looked promising for tools and it was put on by a company known to be somewhat expensive and inflexible. It was in Alameda and offered a surprisingly large mix of tools. These are the things we brought home. IMG_8244.jpeg
Powr-Kraft soldering gun kit in case. IMG_8245.jpeg
Nice selection of later S-K fractional combos.IMG_8291.jpeg
Several Walden dark finish/rusty 3/8” drive tools. IMG_8250.jpeg
Odd selection of Plomb tools.IMG_8247.jpeg
A fully polished Channellock metric combo of questionable origin.IMG_8257.jpeg
A North Bros Yankee Handiman 33H.IMG_8259.jpeg
A new addition to the growing Rosco collection. IMG_8295.jpeg
A New Britain NS58 1/2” drive flex handle. IMG_8288.jpeg
A couple of dirty Xcelite nutdrivers. IMG_8248.jpeg
plus a few other items I’ll post in the vintage forum. Left behind, a Kennedy roller and small chest and a Craftsman 2 drawer box from the ‘60s. They were all a little on the too rusty side. 😢

I loaded up the organizer with ROLOC which is probably dumb… a 40lbs organizer for 5lbs worth of consumables…

Maybe someday, I will put something else in it. This

Um... What were the "contents" that came with the $10 organizers (that you stole)???

This is from Saturday. All the drill bits were in a box for $20, mostly general purpose jobber length with a few packages of cobalt bits. Along with 3 books, 2 pairs of Amp crimpers, misc. Dremel bits, Brownells polishing points & AR specific tap and Mac, Snap-on, Craftsman & Bonney wrenches - was out the door for a total of $45

What's the model # on the Coleman stove generator? If it's for a 500, let me know!

Are those Brownell's points Cratex? If so, you stole them.

Based on drill bits alone, YOU ****.

It's multi-pump. Hard to believe that was over 45 years ago. Then again places like Moab don't seem to ever change.

The old metal cash register is a cool old toy Probably from the 1950’s. While clearing out some storage we found my wife’s cash register so I cleaned it up and put it on eBay expecting some bidding. It ended up selling for the opening bid of only $10. ☹️

IMG_0071.jpeg
The Cetronia community yard sale yielded some minor finds. (forgot the tie bar in group pic) $21.75 for all.

Makita LS1013 10 inch miter saw - disassembled. I'm guessing for want of a new drive end bearing.
Two round cast iron things with casters to put planter pots on top of.
Tiny chromed jewelers vise. anvil.
Partial roll of abrasive cloth (plumbers tape)
Two tiny burners for small oil lamps.
Magnetic parts tray
West German jewelers saw
West German cherry pitter
Chinese attempt at a knock-off of an X-Acto set
Some odd abrasive discs for die griner.
Two lily-of-the-valley (Convallaria majalis) for Mom, since her yard crew mowed hers down with a weed whacker.
All in: $19.00

Bummer. I see about 30 similar ones have sold on eBay since January, mainly $10-20, with a few around $30.
I didn’t buy it to flip, though. It caught my attention by combining “Happi-Time” Sears branding with the red crinkle finish that’s on my Bonney boxes. I was absently pressing the keys, and the seller, with whom I’d had a conversation about the old Bonney forge in Allentown, because I’d picked up a Bonney tie bar, said, “I’ll do $15 for both.” So that’s what I did.

I had a really good day for tools for a one ES stop Friday.

Went there on the second day not expecting this box to be there and even though I could only see the box a a silhouette:

Ad.jpg

I was pretty sure of what it was if it was still there. It was but I wasn't enamored of the price until I also saw what was in it, and had gathered some loose tools (that some of which were probably in the box before bring dump in the $2 bin)
I have two others of these carry boxes and they are tanks. Made in the 30's (we think) but depute quite a bit of effort we are still not sure which company made them. Mine are all unmarked, but others are: Butler marked on one, and another has both. Southern /stove works, and QUALITY TIN~TOP METAL PRODUCTS Richmond Virginia so jury still out on who actually made these:

The box, and the misc. tools I grabbed:

E1-T1.jpg

Stuff inside as found:

E1-T2.jpg

The Plvmb 1/4" box

E1-T3.jpg

Which has a few 9/32nds, drive tools (special size for the military - at least one socket marked WF (Wright Field)

E1-T4.jpg

And sorted: Plvmb in the trays 3 long C Craftsman, some Duro...

E2-1-4-9-32-Plvmb-set.jpg

Sorted, and none were bad, 2 were stamped steel but still marked USA.
Wrenches - Plvmb lower left 3 Williams DBE, one P&C DBE diagonal. New Britain and 3 Script Herbrand marked upper right.

E3-Wrenches-Plvmb-Will-herbrand-NB-etc.jpg

Pliers: Krauter cut off bent NN. "Special" (so marked) Crescent Slip joints. Pexto, big Billings Slip joints, H&M "Straight line", and the odd vise grips are Seymour Smith Snap lock

ter-Pexxto-Sp-Crecent-Bill-Seymoue-Smith-Snap-lock.jpg

Drivers: the 2 perfect handle are marked Germany, the others are not branded but the longer wood handled driver has a Stanley "tell". the wrench at the bottom I missed in the other pic, its an Indestro from "Autokit" types sets.

E5-Drivers-2-perfect-handle.jpg

And some misc stuff, Folding rule broke off to a foot, bath valve socket, 2 spoke wrenches, triangle file ,Feeler gauges, and one is Brass.

-socket-2-splke-wrenches-V-file-Felers-gauges-1-Br.jpg

The guy in the garage discounted some, and the ES Co. owner discounted again to an even $50, so well under a buck per tool, or box!

I ended up going back to yestedays sale, to see if I could find any of the nut drivers for that rack. Well, when I got there they had put up a bid 50% OFF sign, which made me grab something I found too expensive yesterday.
55228251061_30d1145689_b.jpg
Weaver B6 scope in N2 mount, two P&C nut drivers, Xclite nut driver, S&W sight screw driver, and leatherette case. The Weaver was what I passed on yesterday, but today it was priced in my range (and I was surprised it was still there), I never see P&C nut drivers, and those will go to friend who collects that brand, and the S&W will pay for everything. $22.50 out the door.

After that, dog park, and then off to a sale around the corner.
55227356167_d300ff6fab_b.jpg
and another great selection of old US made tools! Box for a Craftsman push drill, Herbrand clutch driver and extension, Blue Point BS tappet, misc. sockets (Snap-on, Cornwell, Plomb), MAC line wrench, Cornwell ratchet, Snap-on early driver bit, Cornwell wobble, bushing driver set, unmarked 1/4 socket box, Plomb 3/8 socket box, Stanley spoke shave, and Snap-on igintion wrench leatherette.

I also picked up this box
55228426958_389411e726_b.jpg
full of old fishing gear, it has the label of Hinsdale, so no way was I going to pass on it
55228786735_bc7e1634ac_b.jpg
All of that for $13.

Snagged this International stack in a really cool matte green for $50. All nice ball bearing draws and in super good condition. The guy claims he has had it for a long time. But it looks exactly like the new Husky Home Depot boxes, even same color so I’m assuming same company? I thought international went bankrupt? I’m a sucker for green anything. Even the tires on the casters are green! Will be getting rid of one of my Craftsman friction slide boxes in favor of this one as my new favorite.

In my best Homer Simpson voice: DOH!

kerosene lamps 042426.jpg
I answered a "free" ad on CL the other day, which involved a trip north - which is another story - and picked up some old lamps. I took them out to The Glass Candle and dropped them off.
She called me earlier, so I drove out there and brought these back home a bit ago.

L to R:
- standard glass-base model, horribly stained with a lot of varnish in the bottom. Not sure if it will come out. I have a new burner for it here in a bag, and a mess of flat wicks. (our lamps at the cabin were all different sizes.)
- Aladdin model B that a previous owner McGyver'd with that hideous brass and pot-metal base, but it's so ugly it's kind of cool. She's is going to see if she can get me a mantle for it. I have a new chimney here and it seems to have a good riser.
- a really old Aladdin that I thought was a model B, but it's not, apparently. I got this one at a garage sale up at Alki for $5.00 at some point between 1988 and 1992, and we used it for years at the cabin. The riser is really sketchy, but it's been that way since I got it. She suggests cleaning it and fiddling with it to see if I can get it to fire up. She's got a mantle ordered and there's a new chimney in that box next to it.
- an old brass thing. no idea of make. she looked it over and thought it looked just fine, just dry. has the skinny chimney on it.

I left her with a nickel-plated number that we both agreed simply wasn't worth trying to "fix" to run on liquid fuel. I asked her if she could find a buyer for it if she electrified it and she said "Oh sure," so I said "It's yours."
I have plenty of lamps. Maybe not enough for the zombie apocalypse, but enough to get to the outhouse.

Estate sale ($4): Coleman 129 table lamp.
Tempted to see if I can't get it going. Got to figure out how to get it pressurized, but a bit of rubber tubing and a bicycle pump might do it. I'm not sure if the wire lamp cage is OEM, but I'll have to keep an eye open for a globe that will fit.
