I want it in a hard plastic handle like there red screwdrivers and picks. Aluminum is heavier than plastic, will scratch up the finish and knurling when I drop it on the ground, could damage the paint on the car if I drop it on the car, will get hot in the summer from the sun.

because it’s heavier will be more fatiguing to turn. It’s 1/4 drive how much more torque you need to develop that this would actually make a difference over unknurled plastic

I am suprised that many still use these. I think the only place I ever really used them was changing glow plugs on rc aircraft (which has been complete supplanted by brushless electrics) and dash work. But dash work I almost always use a milwaukee M12 fuel impactor with socket adapter due to its small size and settable torque or a flex head ratchet that be used similar to a speed handle when bent 90.

Probably used them about the same time I used my speed handles and breaker bars.

That ship has sailed.

All that “Made in the USA” hoo-rah for naught….only to be replaced with just another relabel. I’ll never understand the love for this company.

They have quite a big selection of USA made tools:

A bunch of service wrenches, and a pile of relabeled stuff available elsewhere.
^ They continue to make a good product and introduce new items that solve problems.
They make very little. They relabel some decent stuff, but almost all of it can be gotten elsewhere.

I was always disappointed that Tekton didn't offer full size picks, trim tools, along with hose picks with that nice red hard handle. :wtf:

I'm in the minority here that enjoys Tekton's new releases. They do offer a very wide range of sockets across four drive sizes. I'm currently enjoying using their recently released semi deep 1/4 drive impact sockets. I don't think anyone else offers a set from 4 to 17mm including 4.5 & 5.5mm. Hard to match for the price. I think most of my recent tool purchases bounce between Astro and Tekton with maybe a little Ko-Ken on the side. Back to the aluminum 1/4 drive spinner handle, love it or hate it, Tekton sold out of the first run in two different versions so, they must be doing something right

I also wish they made bigger size picks in the same red plastic handle

and yea man the new semi deep sockets are sweet

i just think the nano sockets that don’t got the dual drive are dumb and personally I don’t got a use for large service wrenches but I’m sure other people do.

Just got mine today. Ordered off the Tekton site and it was here in 4 days, border crossing and all. I shouldn't be surprised by good service but Tekton came through with no hassles.

It's very well built and feels good in hand. And no sign of USA anywhere (as expected) and I wasn't looking for it. Taiwan makes some pretty great tools these days. 10 out of 10.

Actually now that I've got mine, I have found that my El Cheapo blown molded 1/4 socket set case needs a lot of surgery to get the longer handle of the Tekton to fit. I noticed a YouTube video of a few month ago wherein the Rick guy got the shorter shank one and it fit into his Icon kit with no alterations whatsoever. Now that I think about it, the shorter one would have been the right way to go, not only for this reason, but if I got the shorter one, I could always lengthen it with the extensions in the socket set.

Finally had time to put this one together. I think you were dead on that this handle style would be better suited for this.

^^^ I’d buy that nylon handled one. The picks with that handle are excellent.

The machined aluminum one that looks like somebody put a 1/4” drive on a tactical flashlight? Not for me.

Those are good in 3/8 too. I use drive handles a lot for starting fasteners by hand. 3/8 torx bits I use a 3/8 drive handle, which is kind of hard to find. Love the ones that have the female drive end for initial loosening or final tightenin, or just used as an extension. I prefer the handle to be slim as opposed to fat so it. My 1/4” sk and Mac handles are slim whereas my snap-on is a bit chunk. I’d probably buy the tekton one if it had a slimmer plastic handle.
