I don't do it much today because my health issues but in my pastime I enjoy restoring/repairing old true Garden tractors over the yrs, Wheel Horses, Cubs, Simplicity, Ford, Deere ext..
Anyway' I add Lucas oil additive in when I change their ****** fluid.
Like in autoparts stores with clear displays on their counter tops you can hand crank it fast to watch the oil climb up all the gears while we wait on parts guys? That's great stuff, nice & sticky!
So when I cleaned all my ratchets in the ol' ultrasonic cleaner with my tractor parts a few yrs ago because hey' anything that fits in one gets cleaned in one right? Everything but the grandkids! Humm? No' I better not.
But I figured wth' I'll put a bit of that additive I keep mixed here with 90wt in my ratchets?
You know' not only did Lucas stay in there, unlike thinner oil I use but when I opened mine up yesterday, they all looked like the factory just put it in there. New!
I do have a few V ratchets with oil ports on their head I haven't opened yet but I bet they look new inside too.
Costly, but if you use it elsewhere maybe save a bit for your ratchets next time you change your fluid.
Fyi- Most here know not to use WD as a lube but Ill mention it anyway. It's not a good lube, it will clean gears though.

Fwiw-
Guess I lost one my (V) 1/2" drives with the oil port within the last yr.
Seems I left it at a customers business/home with a tractor/forklift I worked on because I can't locate it anywhere & thats a drag because I've owned those ratchets since new (over 50yrs).
I stay organized to keep track of stuff but anymore my mind can't keep up with the rest of me since my strokes.
This get'n old chit ***** man!
Peace

I cannot seem to find the info anywhere in this thread for the stamp I have on my craftsman 1/4 drive ratchet it is a "T4V" series. Anyone know what year range and manufacturer that is from?

Unfortunately, Mr. Lauver just kind of fell off the planet - we haven't seen him since the last update on that list, which was in 2017.

I am certainly no expert on Craftsman, but if I had to guess, I'd say most likely Danaher, and probably in that same date range as the two I pasted above: 2008 - 2009. If you scroll down that list, you'll see there's a proliferation of production codes in that same year range.

thanks for the info. was just wondering on this one as I am slowly replacing my old tool set that was stolen from my years ago. I had mostly ones from the mid to late 90s and trying to stay close to that, I am not sure the quality of the f4v or what not as well. I mean truly I do not know which ones are better than others but I guess USA made is good no matter what
