If not then look looks at the Quincy QT5. Should do more than than you would ever need.

Don't buy a Quincy QT5 with a aluminum head. I have one that I bought new for the home garage in 1997. So far I have replaced 5 sets of head gaskets at $42 per set. The best part that broke was a reed valve on the high pressure side that dropped into the cylinder to be ground up by the piston. $200 for a new valve plate assembly because you cannot buy the reeds separate. At least I do not have blast cabinet in the shop, hate to think how much it would cost me if I used it hard.

I hate to hear that HydroDog. It's a shame these big companies feel the need to tarnish their name with cheap components just to get into the home hobbyist market...

I was not planning on buying used, so I didn't have the cash laying around for the Curtis at the time. I sold a vehicle this evening (guy should be here tomorrow with a rollback), so once that is gone, I should have the funds for it!

Sum ***** weighs 510lbs. I'm gonna need some help!

Like a bunch of others have said, that Curtis look to be the best choice and if you said you can get it for under $1000, damn good deal

If you have a pickup and a strong buddy, or a strong buddy with a pickup, you are good to go!

$1100 is the best he can do.

Pay the man, say "ouch" a few times, then enjoy that compressor. That's way more compressor then the other new "toy" compressors for around the same price.

That Curtis is now in my garage

I brought my little 5x8 trailer and ATV ramps. The trailer only sits ~16" off the ground vs. 42" or so for my truck. There was absolutely NO way we could have done it without it. I barely...barely had the strength to wheel it up the ramps. Holy **** that thing is heavy!

So have you run it?

Time the full empty to shut off time and note the full tank psi.

Report here ASAP. Some people won't sleep until this is done.

Hopefully it will be a trouble free machine.

I just saw this thread, and you got a great compressor! If I were buying new, I would be buying a Puma from Northern.

I heard it run, and we ran it up to 60psi while looking it over. The pressure switch has a small leak, but nothing major.

You'll have to wait on the tests. The Nascar race at Martinsville is next weekend. We are cleaning out our garage because we have 25 people partying here for the race weekend.

Once they are gone, I have to figure out where to put it, and I'll have to run wire for it. Then comes the fun of plumbing air lines...

I know this may as well be from 20 years ago, but how have you liked that Curtis?? :)
