I didn't see a thread for motor oil deals but I figured I would start one for anybody who doesn't read BITOG regularly.

This one is valid through 12/20:

Buy 10 quarts of Castrol Edge Synthetic (any flavor) in store and get a $30 rebate back via Venmo or Paypal from Castrol.

Castrol Edge Promo - https://apfco.com/Secured/R14001

2x $27.48 per jug for the regular edge at Walmart gets you somewhere around 59 bucks with tax, less the $30 rebate, so you end up with a 5qt jug of a good quality full synthetic for around $14 with tax.

Wondering if it requires quarts vs the jug. Looking at the wording on the rebate form......even though they show jugs at the top. Nice jugs btw

I just bought 10 quarts, not sure why amazon has this price now, walmart online seems to be matching.

valvoline R+P 5qt jug $30 available in 5/30, 5/20 and 0/30 at that price.

camelcamel lists average price $38, orielies is $38 and autozone is $39. 1 quart is $11 ....

Not a fire sale, but if you are getting a combo at the parts store you likely get a "free" filter, so $30 +$10 filter is a wash. If you already have a filter and are sold on the marketing, this is a fair price.

A few I just capitalized on...

Pennzoil I bought 10 quarts of full synthetic and got a $30 rebate

Castrol I bought 5 quarts of full synthetic and got $10 via Venmo (Paypal also available)

Shell Rotella Bought a gallon of T6 full synthetic and have a $15 rebate coming

So I got all my oil changes for the year (car, truck, tractor, small engines) for $107 and got $55 back. Can't beat that.

The Pennzoil rebate is not supposed to be for Walmart.com purchases, but my rebate shows approved and waiting to be paid. I was expecting to have to return the oil as I didn't realize it was for Walmart in-store only. It was $3 to $4 cheaper to buy online than the price in store so I ordered it online instead of buying in store.

I bought five gallons of Rotella T6 at Menards last week. I will get $75 back from the rebate. I paid $125 with sales tax so $10 per gallon after the Rotella rebate. I will also get almost $14 back in Menards 11% rebate.

My local Walmart has that as regular price $29.97.

The best price I had found was a couple months ago O'reilly had Valvo R&P with Wix filter for $38, and a $15 gift card to O'reiily.

Thanks for the heads up. I use the Shell Rotella T6 and will be submitting for the $40 rebate.
I've seen the same Rotella rebate come up every spring around Feb-May for the last 3 years, since I bought my tractor. So every spring I check and as long as it's there I stock up for my fall oil changes.

It turns out the Rotella rebate is only for two gallons maximum. I found that Fleet Farm has five gallon buckets of Rotella T6 on sale so I bought two of those and returned the five one gallon jugs to Menards.

Did Menard's give you full price on the return or hold back 11%? That's kind of a dirty deal they have, i understand why , but it locks you in to having to go back to actually spend that 11% in their store IF you received the postcard in the mail.

If you own a car or a house there is always something at Menards you need for repairs ,they even have groceries at mine {milk ,eggs chips etc.} I have no problems spending my rebates.

You should get full refund if you didn't detach the bottom portion of the receipt that is submitted for the 11% rebate. Returns have been easy at Menards and I have no trouble finding things to use the rebates on. Things such as car oil filter, caulk, painters tape, Reese's PB cups (YUM), AA batteries, garden hose, windshield washer fluid, hardware, door mats etc. and the list goes on. I shop there a lot more than Big Blue or Big Orange. It's not that hateful LOL.

Online the 4 packs are something like $53.99 so even bigger savings.

Given the current crude oil situation may be a good time to stock up.
Yes Sir correct.

2-packs can be had in your local warehouse.

4-packs can be ordered online and gently placed on the "WELCOME" mat at your front door.

I shagged two 2-packs yesterday.

I got the full price back. I believe that these days the Menards system knows if a rebate was issued for the receipt.

I purchased 3 individual bottles.
Thanks Qualitytools, that's good to know. I can't find the 3 bottle cases locally and Sam's club charges $19 to have a case delivered.
Did you check the box for a 3 bottle case on the rebate form even though you bought the bottles separately?

I actually purchased online the 3 bottle case and once delivered I started to fill out the rebate form only to discover that the rebate is not for online purchases. Well, I took a chance and walked into a Walmart and purchased 3 individual bottles and submitted for the rebate and was approved.

Hope this helps you or anyone else. Thanks for asking.

O'reilly has Valvo R&P with Wix filter for $38, and a $15 O'reilly gift card again.

From now until 5/26

Be mindful if you use Wix filters these days. They changed manufacturers and have gone down in quality. They were all I used for a long time until I noticed design changes. I Checked BITOG and confirmed my suspicion that the changes weren't for the better.

Would you use the R & P oil in a 1962 Chevrolet 327/300 HP engine that was rebuilt about 5,000 miles ago? I have been using Blueprint Engine oil with higher-than-normal ZDDP levels. It originally called for 10W30 dino oil, but I am thinking about switching to a synthetic oil or a synthetic blend.

I am not an oil expert, but I think there are better choices than Valvoline Restore & Protect for your situation. I am not very familiar with Blueprint engine oil. But I think you are on the right track with going with high ZDDP engine oil that is synthetic or semi-synthetic.

My understanding is many newer oils have been developed/formulated with low ZDDP and other formulation compromises because of catalytic convertors, gas particulate filters, and turbocharging/direct injection systems (the later 2 tend to cause low speed pre-ignition (LSPI) problems). Your situation allows you to avoid these oil formulation compromises. You have better options for oil than most people have.

Look...y'all need to go out and buy 2-years worth of oil for your DD's now. This Strait of Hormuz thing is really screwing things up for the oil industry. Mobil and Shell have already cut off Costco and Walmart from restocking fulfillments. Toyota has sent out memo's to dealership service centers that they are to mix oil weights to conserve.

Supply is drying up, and oil on store shelves is going to be the first to go. The major oil distributors are scrambling right now...

Doubt there will be much for sales, supply is getting tight.
(I work in bulk lubes)

We are having to space out orders already and having to reduce sales to some customers to meet demand.
Was told last week packaged products are taking a hit due to supply chain issues to make bottles.

They're trying to keep it kind of hush hush so no one panic buys.

I stocked up a little on 5w40 and ISO 32 hydraulic oil at home.
Missed the boat on diesel. Should have cost me $3500 to fill my tank, instead it would be almost $6000. Been just filling my 120 gallon slip tank instead... that's still about $700
