Why did Snap-on quit making the hard handle stubby twice?

I don't know the answer but these guys in Japan think Snap-On is worth way more when they flip it.

I am a big fan of that ratchet, several guys around here have them. I can see the first gen going away because it was eventually replaced with the 80 tooth design. I wonder if its gone for good or if there is a 100tooth version coming.

Still made in USA just not stamped due to a marketing decision that was subsequently reversed.

Not sure if this has higher collectibility value or not. It wouldn't for me haha.

I tried to get that ratchet off of my Snap-on dealer in any color and by then they had discontinued it and when he ordered they sent one without a hard handle so it’s just the chrome handle. Only reason I keep it is because it’s handy but hopefully they will bring this square hard handle back. I heard the square hard handle was discontinued on everything except screwdrivers. If one ever comes up for sale at a reasonable price I’ll definitely try to get it.

Wow. I have one in orange. It's Marked "FHKFD80A USA" on the drive side of the handle. No room on the shaft for the usual stamped markings.

I don't think I've ever used it. I'll grab one of the compact head (FHC*) instead.
