Well, I've had a chance to try out the DeWalt brushless saw, and it's an adjustment from a corded saw in a few ways.
First, it's super light, even with a 5Ah battery. When you're used to a full size corded saw, it feels like a toy.
Second, it comes up to screaming full speed so quickly, and that's a little surprising when I start it.
Third, along the same line, the brake stops it instantly, and that's also disconcerting, not being accustomed to it. I'm used to having to be careful where I put a saw down with the blade still spinning.
Finally, the blades are super thin compared to a corded saw. I imagine that's for power savings.
The first thing I used it for was cutting up a pallet, and it just didn't have the torque to power through the uneven wood shifting around during the cut. Kept jamming up. So I think my corded Makita will still be the choice for demo duty. But for cutting regular lumber, it works great. Very fast and easy to control.
I bought a collection of different 24t blades to try out. Stay tuned.
