What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I was thinking how handy a plug-in inflator might be today when I went to air up and noticed that I had three bars on the battery. Fortunately, the M18 seems to use almost no juice from the big battery and it did all four tires--and still showed three bars.

Downside of a plug-in is the thirty feet of wire or hose required to get all the way around a large rig. The M18 has a hose of about 18" and that's fine.
I'm disappointed in you.

Mount these at all 4 corners. Might be handy when camping as well.

It was a joke, clearly not his garage in the picture. But it is a what did you do in your garage thread...hence the funny.
My niece had her wedding reception in a garage. I wish I had pictures, the garage is pretty impressive, his hobby was monster trucks.lol It was decorated way over the top, the food was catered, tables and chairs rented for over 100 guests. Not at all what you would expect knowing it was going to be in a garage. Money can make the difference, he had it.

Laminated some MDF with Formica, drilled and tapped a bunch of holes in 80/20 (actually 4040 & 4080). Spent too much time looking for some hardware that I just bought. Went inside to order more from Bezos and called it a day. Hardware will be here tomorrow morning before 7:00, so not too much time lost due to my scatter-brained mind.

Watered lawns. Mowed lawns--some need it twice a week right now.

Made up a dozen 8' long heavy-duty bungie cords:

The brewers use those to keep empty kegs on pallets while moving them around the brewery.

Now I'm trying to figure out the most comfortable--or least painful--position to be in for the broken rib I incurred last night while unloading some gear from the Van. I was carrying a box of kitchen stuff up the steps and tripped. I tried to turn around and land on my ****, but landed on my lower floating rib on the edge of a step instead. SNAP! I hate broken ribs.

That *****! The bad way!

Knock on wood - I've never broken a bone - ever. teeth chipped and broken, torn muscles; no bones.

I've lost track of how many times I've broken ribs--it was at 15 times a decade or so back. Play hard, get hurt.
Ribs are in the smoker,
Do we need to keep bringing up ribs?

After clocking out for the day, I replaced the cursed laid polypro guy lines on my awning with some nice, colorful Dacron kernmantle cord. I hate and despise polypro lines because they ****, but tent/awning makers seem to love them--because cheap. Now my tensioner knots will hold. If a knot holds in laid polypro, it will probably never come out again as it's been tied with the lay.

Part deux today...
Cleanup on the JD mower deck...
Lots of grass buildup (I hate it when I have to mow the grass when it's wet)...

More stuff...

I inherited an old power washer from my FI when he passed away...
It's one of my most appreciated tools in my garage... Makes life so much easier...
IMG_5532.jpg

Found one of the spindle bearings a little crunchy... I'll have to tear into it before I put everything back together...
I hate to cut the grass when wet too. When I last cleaned my deck, I sprayed the whole underside with fluid film. Tough to say how long but I bet it improved the cleaning for an entire season. Would recommend to do it each year.

I only wish it would stop raining and dry out so I could mow the lawn before I need a hay rake.....

Made the pick needed to pick this monster open.

Sargent & Greenleaf 0881 Environmental.

Kind of concerning that these are securing a lot of important things since picking it isn’t that difficult if you know how Disc Detainer locks work. But a lot of cool weatherproofing/anti-corrosion features as the name suggests.

Play hard, get hurt.

Plenty of times I should have had a broken bone or more.

Back when I was about 20 in a sparing match with a brown belt, he tried some sort of drop kick that was supposed to sweep my feet out and drop me into his punch, with him on the ground. The kick landed on my shin with a crack and the Sensi stopped the match. I was still standing, and the Brown belt was staring up at me, still standing, in shock (I had him dead to rights and he knew it) but I just stopped because I couldn't move my leg.

The Sensi asked if I was OK and i Said no... That bruise was a year leaving. and with me being the kind of guy that stayed planted on my feet, (even when it would be better to roll with it) my leg should have busted. But I'm "Heavy boned" literally. I sink like a stone in fresh water (I cannot float on my back unless I'm swimming.sculling...) because my bones are so thick. (wrap my middle finger and thumb around my wrist and there is 3/4" of gap between them...)

Today was a day mostly filled with 5 minutes jobs around the house. Don't know I should be happy I got so many done or ashamed that my house is such a target rich environment for them..

Did drag a shovel, tamper, dead blow hammer and a level to the spigot in the back of the house. Used the tools to create a home for the hose cart/reel using left over pavers from an old project.

Cleaned tools and put away where they belong.

Cleaned front windshield on one car inside and out and then took the car out and washed it. Took a quick drive through the neighborhood to check progress on some new builds. Rearranged some things in the garage and put away the car wash paraphernalia and hung rags and mitts to dry. Sat at the front of the garage in the shade for a bit to cool off and drank a Schlitz and my wife had a Corona Premier. I picked some Schlitz up on a recent trip to the coast. There is another thread on here about the production of Schlitz stopping in June. Later I grilled some burgers and sausage for Memorial Day.

Sounds like someone needs some climate control.
yep, before then I need to attend to the roof really, single skin with no insulation, osb and felt overlay, is all old an ideally id like to replace and raise it some, it gets very hot, something like 45c surface temp internally, acts like a giant radiator. The shed is a hodgepodge and full so a pita to work on.

I haven't updated in a while... been a bit busy.

Got to spend some time in the shop yesterday. Tossed an eGPU on an oculink card into one of the servers in the rack to test out adding GPU for AI inference. Took one of my batch processes from over 60 minutes down to 10-15. This setup was just a temporary proof of concept, which means I'll probably never fix it... except this GPU is the one out of my gaming rig, so I kinda need to put it back. Anyways, the POC was a success, so time to shop for an actual GPU to use. Currently leaning towards a 5060ti 16G. It'll feel weird putting the better GPU on the server and leaving the older card on the desktop, but I need the higher RAM for the larger models.

Took the back tire off my wife's VW and took it into the tire shop to have a leak fixed.

Came back home and saw my RockAuto brake pads arrived for my work van, so I put them on too.

Of course, I did all of this in the driveway. My old garage is set up for wood working temporarily, and my new garage still has nothing in it (no tools, no nothing), so I had to do all this work in the driveway, where I could get to my tools, lol.

I understood none of this, but pretty green lights in the picture.

Wooden wire spool finally came to end of its second service life. Quick , easy 2x6 outdoor work table for dirty messes I don't want inside with the boat. If it seems like it's going to hold up well, I may build another and chase some steel plate for the top. I included the plans from the engineer if someone wants to replicate it. Pics, no order..
