I ordered a complete audio package from tech12volts. He specializes in Tundra audio.

I purchased the kit at the beginning of the year. He was waiting on some things to arrive before shipping, but he responded to every email.
The correspondence was great. I received it all, but had to wait for an open weekend for install.

Saturday we were supposed to go to Atlanta to help a friend lift his Jeep, but my wife got sick and we decided to stay at home. I decided to tear apart the truck and install everything.
First step, remove seats and clean! I've never done this and it showed. Was pretty dirty under there.

I decided to go with Kilmat for the sound deadening. Got the rear panel knocked out.

55086687749_01a505fd25_b.jpg20260207_101436 by thetaste lingers, on Flickr

Got everything laid out. I didn't have any instructions though. There were lots of questions. I ended up calling Mr. Taylor on Saturday and they accidentally sent the instructions to someone else. He promptly got them sent to me and all of my questions were answered.

I decided to mount the bass knob right where my fingers are when I'm driving, so I wouldn't have to reach somewhere else everytime. Also it's kind of hidden which I like.

I got the power wire ran, the grounds hooked up, the scosche mounted with velcro and wires placed.

Mounted the amp and started wiring. I had to use a couple of 25 year old RCAs temporary, because the kit was missing them. Mr. Taylor is going to mail them to me today.

I finished and had it all working Saturday night. Components in the doors would be installed Sunday.

Sunday I got out in the garage early and started on the driver front door. I think more time was spent deciding how to route the wiring than doing the work.
Ended up cutting the plastic to install some kilmat inside the door skin, so I just placed a piece over the hole and called it good.

I had to cut off the lip on the tweeter to fit in the Toyota OEM mount. JL changed their design.

55086423001_e7699d3486_b.jpg20260208_103455 by thetaste lingers, on Flickr

Once cut off, it fits very snug. No need for any epoxy.

55086790490_1656d6cc28_b.jpg20260208_103841 by thetaste lingers, on Flickr

Got everything buttoned up and moved to the passenger side. The plastic is blue over there...

55085532727_5d10de5c3d_b.jpg20260208_103318 by thetaste lingers, on Flickr

You do not have to cut the lip off the tweeter to fit the rear OEM tweeter mount. It will slide in there very snug how it is.

55086687444_d8fd9a79e8_b.jpg20260208_114721 by thetaste lingers, on Flickr

Rear door installed.

55086687439_c18e7068b2_b.jpg20260208_114713 by thetaste lingers, on Flickr

I set up the amp according to the instructions. Since there were no "Y" RCAs, I was told to use the amp in 4 channel mode. I still need to fine tune everything. I am getting lots of "engine feedback" through the speakers. I am thinking it may be the 25 year old RCAs I am using. Once I get the correct RCAs, I'll go from there.
All the ground locations were removed of paint and locked down tight. I don't think it is a ground issue, but I'll find out soon.

Oh and I got a different steering wheel for the vette. I wanted alcantera that was thicker. I found this one on Ebay for pretty cheap, so I decided to try it out.

55080216514_1f63614efa_b.jpg20260201_191238 by thetaste lingers, on Flickr

I also have a rear lip spoiler for the vette coming in the mail. It already got here damaged, so they had to send out another one.
I'll update when I get it installed.

Oh yeah. I've been looking for a ZR1 roof to put on the Z06. This one was on Marketplace for a while. It has a drill hole in it and needs to be buffed and maybe sanded down. Offered the guy $400 for it and he said yes. I drove up to Nashville last week and picked it up.

I did a lot this past weekend.

Friday I installed the rear lip spoiler on the Vette. I've been wanting one of these for a long time. Finally got to get one.

There wasn't a template for drilling the holes. This car didn't come with a factory lip spoiler, so it didn't have the holes pre-drilled.
Laid out and put some yellow on the bolts from a paint pen. It worked out well.

Yesterday, I took off and decided to knock out the Hex grid lighting I got for christmas.

The lack of information in the instructions was kind of disappointing, but I got started.
These are 6500k brightness. I really didn't know what to expect. I wondered why everyone paints their ceiling black with these. It's because they are extremely bright!

Before

55099743987_fae99eaa0d_b.jpg20260216_091851 by thetaste lingers, on Flickr

I laid out the outer perimeter first. I didn't have a laser level, so I had to measure from the edge.

55100624111_b562b34f41_b.jpg20260216_104816 by thetaste lingers, on Flickr

It's somewhat straight. The light bars aren't really straight out of the box either.

55100895219_3b679c88f7_b.jpg20260216_112203 by thetaste lingers, on Flickr

I got the perimeter laid out and temporarily plugged in, then started on the center. The camera does no justice on how bright these are.

Finished. My buddy showed up after I got started on the center section and brought his laser. The back side close to the window is out by a lot. I was measuring from the wall, so I guess the wall is not that straight. Couldn't really tell without the laser, so I left it alone.

Now I have to get the ceiling fixed, do something about the wires from the old lights and finish it out.

Thanks for looking!

Love this thread, haven't commented before, but just had to show you my Vette, we have similar tastes in cars! I've also been looking at those lights, not sure I wouldn't need sunglasses when they are on though!

Yes. My buddy and I were making comments about wearing eye protection when the lights are on. HAHA

Rear brakes have been squeaking upon contact for a few weeks now. I thought it may be mud until I heard one of the scrapers dragging while no brakes.
I guess it was about time I swapped out those calipers I bought about 5 years ago, so I could hook up the parking brake.
One reason I waited so long is the position of the upper bolt on the caliper. I have to drop the axle from the leaf springs to get to it. Oh and it wasn't that high on the priority list.

Last night, I get to this point and can't find my 15/16 deep well, so I could loosen the U-bolt nuts. Wonderful. After looking for 25 minutes, I decide to go to auto parts to buy one.

Got back in record time and I was able to finish and will get to the brake cables before wheeling at Coalmont on Saturday.

Friday, I got to work on the parking brake lines. Needed to make some brackets, so I dug into the bracket bucket. Found one that will work perfect to hold the cable coming from the parking brake handle.

Drilled some holes, added some rivnuts and it fit perfectly.

55124528956_5f81178ec7_b.jpg20260227_121738 by thetaste lingers, on Flickr

After that, all forward progress stopped.

I wanted to get it on the ground and make sure the brakes worked. They didn't...
So much brake bleeding. 3 large containers of brake fluid, removal of the master cylinder for bench bleeding, later that evening, I decided to remove the rear calipers and put the old ones on, so we could wheel on Saturday.
When I was putting the last caliper on, I said to my friend "I wonder if there is some special thing you need to do to these calipers to be able to use them" "Could probably google cadillac eldorado parking brake adjustment" So he immediately started googling and he was like yep, you do have to do things.

If I would have googled that in the morning, the whole day wouldn't have been shot. Anyway, we wheeled and I'll drop back and punt another day and put those calipers back on. At least I am one bracket closer to getting them to work. I need to go to an LKQ and get some parking brake brackets off of a tacoma for the leaf springs.

If you're still here, I did get a few pictures from Saturday at Coalmont ORV park.

A couple weeks ago, my wife hit me up with wanting a Gazebo of some sort on the front porch thing.
Well, we went to Lowes and found one that would fit and also picked up a table and chairs.
Got started on it that Friday.

It's like putting together ikea. lol

55176467362_279139f5a5_b.jpg20260320_143142 by thetaste lingers, on Flickr

Wasn't hard. Just took a long time setting everything up and getting all the bolts and nuts and washers ready.

55177527258_675db4fb80_b.jpg20260320_173644 by thetaste lingers, on Flickr

Got the framework done the first day. We wanted to lay it out with the gable facing out, but the dimensions were 4.5" longer than the box said it was, so we had to rotate it 90 degrees. My son helped with the chairs. We got all of them done and the table set up before it got dark.

This pic is from Sunday morning. I took Saturday to go skydiving. The day was too nice to miss being in the air.

There was 1 bolt that needed to be put in. I could have got to it, but I would have rather not had 180 pounds on that roof. His 100 pounds did better and he fit in the tiny hole that was there.

I haven't been able to work in the garage now for almost a month. Going out of town again this weekend for our annual fishing trip to Tellico. Maybe next weekend?

Had a small bit of time last night to replace the U-joint in the jeep.

I did go talk to my off-road fab buddy about installing the traction bar that I bought years ago. Hopefully that will fix the axle wrap issue and keep me from burning through u-joints. I have to measure the unibody and design a crossmember to mount it to though.

So a month has went by!
Got the crossmember for the jeep designed, burned out and I'll be taking it home today to mock up. I'll try to get some pics for ya'll.
I also ordered a rear transfer case mount to incorporate into the crossmember.

Oh yeah, Toyota has 2.9 percent financing, so I traded the 21 in on a 26 last Thursday.

The lift components for it delivered today. Bilstein 5100 and cornfed 1" spacer for the rear air bags.
I'll be putting 285-65/20 tires on it Saturday morning.

I enjoy wiring actually.

Someone else besides me? I don't mind wiring work at all. It soothes me for some weird reason. Of course, it helps to have a OEM wiring manual / diagram, but I've wired / rewired harnesses for engine swaps / repair, audio, custom harnesses etc and everything else and I don't mind it at all.

I have had 50% on the windshield for so long now, I dont even notice. It can get a little dark at night, but i have it on my Gladiator, had it on my Wrangler before I sold it, and also on my Daughter's 4 runner. Once you get used to it, you will want it on everything. It also does a good job of eliminating the use of sunglasses. It does a really good job of cutting down on the glare. Truck looks good with the lift. I did the 5100 lift on the 4 Runner a couple of months ago.

I was driving today and was like...oh yeah. I have 50% on here. Then I was like... I can hardly tell the differance in the 70 and the 50.
So yeah, I agree with you.

Thanks!

I like the preload the 5100s put on the springs, because most things are sprung too soft.

Its funny, I dont even think about the tint anymore, until I get in my suburban or truck that doesnt have any tint. My daily will always be tinted now. I think the 50% is perfect for the windshield. And it makes the rest of the tint seem darker from the outside. Also, with newer vehicles the LED headlights are bright enough that I dont have to worry about not being able to see at night.

The 5100's changed the ride completely in the 4Runner. I will say, we let the stock shocks go way too long, and my daughter wanted a lift, so the 5100's with the ride height adjustments worked perfect and really improved the ride quality. I added a spacer in the rear, just to keep it from looking squatted. Im now thinking about putting 5100 on the Gladiator.

Replaced the grille yesterday. While I was in there, I figured I would fit the horns and just kept going.

Compressor and tank mounted under the bed above the muffler. The T-fitting broke that goes to my air hookups, so I have to pick up a new one today

Cali-raised buttons for the compressor and horn activate (flux capacitor). (I have it on ground. pressed, it activates the train horn with the stock horn. Unpressed the stock horn only)

TRD off-road grille from Ebay. (yes it's OEM)
Also got some yellow overlays for the fog lights from cali-raised

Ordered a shadeblade from GTS Styling. I like to roll the rear window down to let the heat out during the day and just in case it rains, I don't have to go running out to roll anything up.

I got the T fitting fixed and the air lines run to each side for the aux air last Friday.

Then I started another project.

Decided to start on the audio for the truck. I had a tech12volts system in the 2021 truck and am wanting it in this new one.

Step 1 is remove seats, under seat storage and remove the framing, so I can cut out the jack mount.

For some reason, Toyota decided they wanted to put the window switch for the rear window on the overhead console. Well they have it wired backwards.
You push up for the window to go down and pull down for the window to go up. I decided to swap the motor wires for it to be correct.

Glue and finishing nails. Also, I'm not the best wood worker, so take that in mind when looking at this work. LOL

Here is where it is at the moment. Had to stop and order wire connections, port and sub box paint. All that should be here this week and I'll get started back on it.

The amount of sawdust off the MDF was imense! Lots of dust everywhere. After sweeping, I got out the leaf blower. It helped somewhat.

The Z06 was put outside in the rain while I was doing all the sawing.

Had some time Sunday to drill the holes for the port and wire hookup, install the front panel and paint the box.

I bought specific speaker box paint. I opened it and it looked like gel consistency. It went on well though.
