Bought some cheap red reflectors off Temu to fill the holes in the bumper's rubber trim where the old reversing sensors were.

Got a cheeky little LPG badge too.

Steering wheel cover was supposed to be for the motorhome but its slightly too small to fit and not slip off. Not a fan of it on the bug so might see if its possible to sew it together.

Made a start on the Metcalfe service station i got given for my birthday. Decided to modify it a little adding a partially closed roller shutter door.

I'm going to build it as a what if Cartune (a UK VW tuning firm) that closed in the 1970s had continued into the late 1980s/early 1990s.

Just the pumps left to add and a mount to make for the price totem.

Not sure what time period your station is in but in the 60s and early 70s gas in the states gas was around 30 cents a US gallon. The cheapest I ever paid was 17.9 cents per gallon in the around 1970 on a trip to Detroit during a gas war. My friends and I would throw change into the ashtray of my car and by the end of the week I would use it to buy gas. We would drive to the station and tell them we needed whatever the amount of change was, 63 cents, 74 cents, and maybe if I was lucky a dollar are more.

Fuel price on the totem is from 1988.
When i got my first car in 1994 when i was at college i was paying 50p a litre ($1.89 US gallon). It used to cost me just over £15 to fill the tank. Its now £1.579 (just under $6 a US gallon). :(

When I ran out of gas in a 61 Beetle, I had in the late 60s, I didn't know the reserve was left open, it cost me around $2.25 to fill it all the way up. Almost two hours pay pumping gas at the Sinclair gas station I was working part time at. The good old days.

Got the trio of tiny ickle fuel pumps made. I might make another couple of diesel ones and put them off to one side for trucks.

Made a strip of paving with mounts for the price totem. I wonder how long it took for the VW T2 owner to realise the filler was on the other side of his van?

Don’t forget the free standing pump and hose to fill your tyres.

Is kerosene used as a fuel for space heaters and lights?
This is our local garage. Pumps for diesel and unleaded with one for kerosene i assume in the corner with a hose for tyres on the fence to the right.

Gernant garage.jpgMost garages don't have the kerosene pump, though some rural ones will have a red diesel pump (for agricultural use off road only).
Theres sometimes a separate diesel pump mounted away from the main forecourt (usually not under the canopy) for heavy goods vehicles and if you're really lucky an LPG pump with its big storage tank in the corner of the yard.

Just did a tip run and ended up soaked to the skin unloading the full caravelle.
The price of LPG has also gone up for the first time in 4 years. Now at £1.059 per litre. Still 50p/l cheaper than unleaded though.
